Localization (l10n/i18n) of AsusLauncher and others

Hello,
I trying to translate eeepc easy mode to Brazilian Portuguese, but I need a .po or .ts file of Asus correlated programas.
I think that a Asus don`t  realize sources of this programs.

I try to make a .po file from scratch, but I don`t know the strings used on AsusLauncher and others, except someones.

AsusLauncher_pt_BR.po

Code:

msgid "Access on-line help"
msgstr "Acesso a ajuda on-line"

msgid "Help"
msgstr "Ajuda"

msgid "Customize"
msgstr "Personalizar"

#incomplete
msgid "Back to"
msgstr "Voltar a"

Compile using (using another Linux):
msgfmt --qt AsusLauncher_pt_BR.po -o AsusLauncher_pt_BR.qm

Copy .qm file to /opt/xandros/share/AsusLauncher/messages/
And restart AsusLauncher.

I appreciate collaborations to complete the strings.

Tnx.

*** Do not forget to set the locales for their region. ***

Re: Localization (l10n/i18n) of AsusLauncher and others

Hello,
I make progress in my attempt to translate "Easy Mode" to Brazilian Portuguese, almost all strings ware translated.
Resting some hidden strings.

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/5118/portugueshb2.png

The .po and .qm files were made available on the link
http://www.geocities.com/linosam/asus_pt_BR.tgz

To translate to another language, copy the filename_pt_BR.po to filename_New_Locale.po and edit, change all strings in Portuguese to you language.
Install gettext tool, and compile with
msgfmt --qt filename_New_Locale.po -o filename_New_Locale.qm
Example:

Code:

# cd opt/xandros/share/AsusShutdownDialog/messages
# cp shutdown_dialog_pt-BR.po shutdown_dialog_es_ES.po
# nano -w shutdown_dialog_es.po
msgid "&Task Manager"
msgstr "Administrador de &Tareas"

# msgfmt --qt shutdown_dialog_es_ES.po -o shutdown_dialog_es_ES.mo

Re: Localization (l10n/i18n) of AsusLauncher and others

Yes, is possible to translate such applets.
powermonitor, networkmonitor and wapmonitor have a .qm file to Chinese and twain languages.
If you understood the idea, make new .po file and .qm files.
To find strings, only copy visible texts from these programs.
Or, decompile .qm files, I dont have success that way.

Or, Wait a little so that I make these files.

Re: Localization (l10n/i18n) of AsusLauncher and others

I made progress on translating monitors applets.
http://www.geocities.com/linosam/asus_m … _pt_BR.tgz

I have to use a new approach to these programs.
Instead a gnu gettext, Qt linguist tools ware used.
Install qt4-dev-tools and use linguist-qt4 to edit and release you translation job.
Text file have a .ts termination.

I don`t sure if all texts has corrected displayed.

I appreciate any feedback.

Re: Localization (l10n/i18n) of AsusLauncher and others

Poderia nos passar as instruçoes para instalar este arquivo .deb que  voce criou ?

Eu estava alterando o arquivo simpleui.rc manualmente pois possui as entradas de pt_PT mas nao pt_BR.

Um abraco,

Marcos

Re: Localization (l10n/i18n) of AsusLauncher and others

I wrote a installation script to set eeepc in Brazilian Portuguese, configure keyboard and apt, install all necessary packages, and others stuffs.
Donwload
http://www.geocities.com/linosam/asus-portugues_701.tgz
unpack and run instalar script
tar -zxf asus-portugues.tgz
cd portugues
sudo ./instalar

Answer some confirmation questions, wait and reboot.

Se instalar seu pacote e depois a Asus liberar uma atualizacao oficial para portugues, nao havera nenhum conflito ?

Um abraco.
