Live Update keeps showing the same update and even after applying that update it does nothing
I tried booting DOS off of a USB flash drive but that didn't work either.
Not sure what my options are besides falling back to Windows XP which I really want to avoid.
Anyone?

A solution is discussed in this thread:

To use the EZFLASH utility method, you should note three things:
1. Not all USB drives work, so try another if the first one isn't recognised.
2. To be safe, format the drive in the FAT16 format. Seems some models can read FAT32, some cannot.
3. Rename the file to XXX.ROM, where "XXX" is the model number of your Eee. In my case, it had to be S101.ROM (obviously, I have an S101).

Thanks man. I actually tried it last night. I think the reason I can't get it to work is because I need to format the drive to 16gb but having trouble doing so. Trying to see if I can find a smaller drive. I have one but not sure where it is

BIOS Sequence to install manually a BIOS:
1. Get the xxxx.ROM file and rename it to 901.ROM
2. Put it on an USB stick (FAT16 formatted)
3. Switch on the EeePC and push ALT+F2 (wait the message "Searching for USB device")
4. Plug on the USB stick (take care, the installation starts without confirmation and don't stop the process)
5. Wait the restart message and switch off the EeePC
6. Unplug the USB stick
7. Restart the EeePC and push F2 to reset the BIOS default values.
8. Eventually, reenter into the BIOS to modify the parameters.
This worked fine with my 2103 version in ASUS 901 & 1000H but keep in mind a BIOS update is always risky...
No EZFLASH utility method is necesary.

Yeah, it was pretty easy to do but needed something that I can boot off of using Fat16. Easier said than done though when you don't have something you can format to fat16. had to track down a 2gb flash drive

you can also download the rom manually and flash it within windows 7 with the windows asus update tool.
works fine!
(if you get an error, run in compatibility mode, but i think it works out of the box)

you can format your 16GB USB with the below DELL utility, it creates a 2 GB fat16 partition leaving the rest unallocated; after formating it, paste your 901.ROM file deleting all the other extra stuff, then boot with ALT+F2.
