Webcam on Windows 7?

I just upgraded my 904HA to Windows 7, and I can't figure out how to get the webcam working at all. Looking in my device manager, there's one item listed as an "unknown device", and Windows can't seem to find anything on it online. Could that be it? Is there any way to fix it?

Re: Webcam on Windows 7?

Try AvaCam (http://www.freewarefiles.com/downloads_ … amid=23445) and see if that works with your webcam.  If it does, then your issue is most likely the app.

Re: Webcam on Windows 7?

It couldn't detect my camera at all, so the program really didn't work. I typically turned my webcam off, so as to not unnecessarily suck up the battery (I don't use the camera often, so no point in leaving it on while not in use, right?). Back when my netbook had XP, there was an icon in my system tray I could click on to turn the camera on and off, but now that icon is gone. I'm curious if there's any way to toggle the camera on and off like that.

Also, on an unrelated note, would it be worth it to upgrade my BIOS? I've never done it a single time since buying this netbook (bought it in about February or March), and I'm not sure what, if any, noticeable benefits there are. I tried upgrading the BIOS using EZ Flash, but for some reason, it couldn't detect or read the saved file I had on my USB stick, for whatever reason, so it just kept looping the message about reading the USB stick and not finding the file, or whatever. Am I supposed to make a certain file folder structure within my memory stick to place the file in? Am I supposed to rename the file at all?

Also, do BIOS updates stack? As in, when I was looking at the BIOS updates for my machine, there were different ones that seem to have came from different times, with different "features" and "upgrades". If I only download and upgrade to the newest one, will I still reap the benefits from the other updates?

Re: Webcam on Windows 7?

If it didn't recognize the camera then you have a driver or a hardware issue.  Do you have the ACPI drivers installed?  Do you see the camera in Device Manager?
