Ok, I broke my 1000, went to best buy, they exchanged me this thing. I like it a lot, its lighter, has the nicer screen, and all kinda cool little gadgets I didn't know I needed. (woot for a caps lock light)
Me being one of those people who has a tendency to want to immediately install my own version of windows, I dont think I had even booted it up before I was re-installing everything. Why would I do this? I think I might be ret!rded. The end result was that I had a very fast running net-book that was working awesome, until I wanted to connect to the wireless network.
I really wish I had tried before I wiped the hard drive, because now I dont know if it is my version of windows, or if the hard ware might just be faulty, but here are my symptoms.
I can connect if I am using a USB wireless card
I can connect with the built in wireless if I am at school (Un-secured network)
I can connect with a lan Cable.
I can see the networks listed
I cannot connect to my home network or my friends network using my built in wireless card. (both secured networks)
What happens is I will get the message, "Wireless networks detected" so, I select the network, and tell it to connect, and it acts like it is going to, then will say connected for about a half a second, and then go back to trying to connect, before finally giving my the finger and giving up. In the time it says connected it MIGHT allow me to load up Google.
I have tried assigning an IP, and that didnt help. I have no other "Preferred" networks in range, so I am out of ideas. I figured I should post here instead of throwing my laptop across the room in a fit of rage...
