901: Grub slow to load

When I have Eeebuntu 3.0 installed on the large SSD (16 GB), Grub loads to the OS selection screen almost instantly. I decided to do a fresh install on the "fast" SSD (4GB), and for some reason it takes a few seconds before it displays messages like: "Starting  Grub..." , then Grub stage 1.5..., and then  finally it goes to the OS selection. I have tried to change the HDD, or IDE, or boot order selections on the BIOS (ver. 2103)  to change the 16GB as primary, and still no luck. Any suggestions  greatly appreciated.

Re: 901: Grub slow to load

dual booting could be the cause of this, if you're not dual booting you shouldnt go to the OS selection screen
check out eeebuntu's wiki they have some tips for a faster boot

Re: 901: Grub slow to load

You can install start up manager in any of the buntus and graphically tweak grub.  Try some different settings.

Also, are you sure the 4gb ssd is the "fast" ssd?  The 4gb ssd in my 900a was anything but fast.  If all else fails, stick with what works.

Re: 901: Grub slow to load

Thank you for your replies. I have been unable to understand the reason why installing eeebuntu on the 16GB SSD grub loads almost instantly, while installing eeebuntu on the 4GB SSD grub loads very slow (around 15-20 seconds). this is with or without dual booting. I am not going to waste more time trying different settings/installs. just like v1k1ng1001 suggested: "stick with what works". I have it installed on the 4GB, and I will try to tweak grub and see if I can improve the grub load time.
