Hi, I installed Ubuntu 9.10 NBR yesterday on my EEE. Initially it worked ok and I removed Open Office and Games as I never use those. When I restarted it would not boot. I'm not sure why. I then reinstalled my old EEEBuntu NBR which I then upgraded to 9.10 via Update Manager and same thing happened. Anyone else getting these errors? What am I doing wrong?
*Reinstalling Ubuntu 9.10 NBR no longer works for me either as it keeps going backwards to the partition part of the installation, even though I keep specifying that I want to erase the whole disk and reinstall.
Is there any other lite free OS system that I could install instead? I only ever use my EEE for internet browsing (Firefox), Skype and IM (Pidgin)

Will it at least load into linux from USB before the install?

I am now trying to install ubuntu under the ext3, however now it gives me:
Errno 5] Input/output error
This particular error is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers), to check whether the hard disk is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler environment.
I had followed the steps to install via unetbootin in this thread http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=78452
My eee is 4gb and has a 4gb sd card.

Puppeee is easy and installs flawlessly from a usb key.

Consider installing Spri, a new small fast IceWM based Ubuntu variant.
It uses the Midori web browser, but Firefox can be installed if needed.

Have you verified that you have a good install disk? It's not uncommon to get a bad burn with unetbootin, and thus problems with installation. I would suggest reburning the disk and retrying the install. It could also be due to a failing SSD in the EEE, and the only remedy I know for that is a new SSD.
