Boooo cupertino- Boooo!
In the current developer build of 10.6.2, Apple appears to have changed around a lot of CPU related information. One of the effects of this is Apple killing off Intel’s Atom chip.

Pretty typical, give it a week or two, and it'll get patched.
It's kinda funny to watch the cat and mouse game here, hackers hack, Apple blocks, hackers hack, Apple blocks...
What's even funnier is how iPhones usually get hacked before release.

Ouch, thanks for posting that! Good to know

The idiocy is it only serves to encourage more piracy. and in the long run it slows the growth of the customer base and profits.

Yeah, really, if they ever succeeded then their OSX sales will plummet. But typical idiocracy from Apple.

eh dont find Snow that amazing in the first place...the windows task bar blows the OSX dock with expose out the water...
Guess I'll stick to 10.6.1

So, Would talking about Mac OS in this forum still be appropriate now? ![]()

People just like to have the latest of anything. But if Apple keeps this up then it'll become the OS people used to talk about.

It appears this all may be just a rumor. I'd still recommend googling, and/or checking osx86 BEFORE updating any hackintosh.

Maybe us lil' Celeron owners still got a shot.

"It shouldn’t be long before some clever hacker figures out a workaround and releases a patched kernel to the world, re-enabling the OS on Atom-based computers. But that’s not the story. The bigger message is that Apple has finally stopped ignoring the incessant buzz of the hobby-hacking, Mac netbook scene and instead pulled out a fly-swatter and dealt it a whack. The war is officially on" from wired.com
This isn't new, it's been going on. Apple routinely does this every couple updates, kinda like the way iTunes updates break BB syncing, or iPhone firmware negates jailbreaks.
As far as the celeron, I'm surprised SL runs on anything less than 1.5 GHz, not due to resource requirements, but just as a block to hackintosh.

for the time being I will stick with 10.6.1, but I have seen over at insanelymac some succesful upgrades both with previous official and new hacked kernels as well.
