As I'm sure every single person who's ever had a 1101HA knows, the screen is VERY glossy (like the rest of the device). For me it became close to unusable in places like the school cafeteria because I couldn't see ****.
By looking around I found viewguard who has a new 11.6" protector: http://www.buyviewguard.com/en-us/11.6%22-Widescreen/
After carefully measuring I found it fit the 1101HA perfectly (11.6" is of course a diagonal measure so it wasn't set in stone that it would fit) and ordered 2 since I'm in norway and the $30 shipping meant i wouldn't like to have to order a second.
It arrived today and after carefully putting it on (with no airbubbles or dust under the screen, I might add
) I must say it's totally worth it. The proector defuses light so that you dont get the full reflection to worry about. the reflection is still there, but your eyes dont focus on it since its just a blob of light.
As an extreme example, here's a lamp pointed directly at the screen at the worst possible angle ever - before and after the screen protector was put on:

One last pic taken outside with the screen pointing towards the sky (cloudy):
Pic showing eflection on the chassis vs reflection on the screen
The actual effect is a lot better than what the pictures show - with blurry reflections your focus won't drift away from the picture on the screen, something the photos dont show of course.

Nice! ![]()
That's really something to consider. It is the cheaper one on the site you're linking to, I guess?
How did the Norwegian customs treat you? Obviously, it will cost more than 200,- even if I was only to order one filter.

No MVA. The limit is 200, and two filters = 30 dollars = about 175 NOK. The shipping charges arent included in the value of the package, hence no MVA

Updating this a bit with some "second impressions".
Had it on for a couple of weeks now and it makes a lot more difference in real world situations than in the pics I took as you rarely have the extreme situatuations you have there. I've noticed that I see my own reflection in the chassis of the 1101ha, but not in the screen, and when I sit in the cafeteria at school (one of the reasons I wanted this) i can no longer see any noticable reflection from the window or the ceiling lights like I did before. Softer reflections are more or less completely gone with this one where without it even the slightest reflection would be in so much detail it would be extremely annoying. Couldnt be more happy with this.

How does it perform outside in bright light? Are you finding that you can turn down the screen brightness significantly with the ViewGuard? How does it compare to an LCD with a matte screen? If it's not too much trouble, could you get a picture looking dead on at the screen?

Its not about turning down backlight, its about not getting reflections. You can never outdo reflections with backlight anyways. MIght not be as good as a default matte screen, but its pretty good. What do you mean with a picture looking dead on the screen? Inside? Outside? Screen on? Screen off? reflections or not?

looking straight at the screen with potential reflections in the background. Screen on. Sorry for poor choice of words there lol. I would be most concerned about seeing myself in the screen. And for me, turning the backlight up helps me to see the screen better and focus less on the reflections.

Thanks for the pics. It appears that it's much better as far as reflections are concerned than the glossy screen.
