good luck D4NNY, do you think 64mb of RAM is enough to run puppy?
what would be cool is if you could replace things in it, like the RAM, then this "net browser" could be used for some serious modding

It seems like older versions will run in 64Mb, and newer versions ought to as well - allthough it probaly wont be able to run completly in RAM.

I've been trying unsuccessfully to find out EXACTLY what RAM module is installed in this thing to find out how much an upgrade would possibly cost. Hence the post asking if anyone had one of these. I'm pretty sure Puppy would run fine on this with a swap but if not then I'm sure TinyCore would be fine (32Mb RAM minimum).
Since I saw it I have been looking in earnest for a cheap netbook and it seems that this Disgo is a bit overpriced when I have seen reconditioned Grade A1 Acer Aspire Ones or eee 701SDs out there for £125-£130. I believe these are a reputable site (http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Refurbis … w/prod.asp). If anyone knows different please post as I'm likely to grab one of these at some point in the not too distant future ![]()
Will have another look around but will probably go for a 'proper' netbook rather than the net browser. Would probably cost more than the extra £30 just to upgrade the RAM ![]()
It would be fun experimenting to see what you could get it to do though!!! ![]()

I've got a contender link
here are the whoppingly fast specs:
- ARM926EJ-S 266MHz CPU
- Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 operating system (English)

- 80MB RAM system memory (82340KB)
- Operating system stored in flashable ROM (does not occupy RAM storage)

The Disgo 3000 may be underpowered and unsuitable for Net browsing [ ! ] but -- as long as I can remove Windows CE completey from the HD and replace it with DOS 6.x -- it will be perfect for what I need: an e-book reader -- see www.martn-woodhouse.co.uk
(I already have Illumination-books running on my eeePC, but only in a DosBox -- which isn't exactly what I want . . . )

Oh boo. MSDOS is written for x86 (of course) and not ARM, so won't run on the DISGO.
I better look at fileX -- it comes complete with C source code and Illumination was originally written in (Borland) C so probably not too hard to rewrite . . .
Anyway, Illumination books already look just fine on the eeePC -- streets ahead of the Sony or Kindle and one-twentieth the storage size . . . .
Cheers, Martin

I actually have one of these devices, and they're very good for their size and I think they're pretty good value for £95, which is what mine cost. The processor is rather underpowered, but the software compensates for this and tasks run pretty quickly. I have infact written a full review of the device on my website: http://jamesctplant.wordpress.com .
I am interested in putting a distribution of Linux on it, but I have no idea how to even make the thing boot from USB: It doesn't give the option of pressing one of the F-keys to drop into a boot menu.

I also have this device and I have found it to be very good at what it does. The battery lasts for ages and it starts up very quickly. You can use USB HD and Pendrives. It appears not to have much in the way of limits in the size of drives it supports, so far 160 GB. The only problem I had with my one is the power button, the wire had broken off and I had to solder it back on. The one thing I noticed on opening her up is that there is nowhere for upgrading the device, so it can't be upgraded from the standard upgrade process. You could hack it, but I don't think it would be worth your time as I haven't got it working with any USB hubs. All in all it works well and there is allot of programs that I have managed to run on it.
The one thing you'll maybe want to install is Softmaker, it works really well. Also the other thing which is really annoying is that if you install abit of software that needs to save a file in your my documents, it will not work as the my documents is part of the ROM and is refreshed every time you reset it.
Other than that it is a good device.

and then you step on the screen... draw on it... fold it a bit too hard.... seems like a bad idea with that screen really. Mabye an e-ink screen would better suit it?
