Hi all!
I just downloaded the 0309 bios from Asus global downloads site, flashed it, and now overclock is again available. I have 2GB on my 1101HA and am able to overclock to 30% without any visible problems yet (only the fan turning on when needed). The Asus Eee Live update still wants me to downgrade to 0308, though.

Which memory are you using?
thank you

WOW! So, just so we are straight: 2GB installed AND 30% overclocking permitted in the BIOS? So what is your final CPU clock speed with the 30% overclock? 1.73Ghz?
That almost makes me want to sell my 1000HE @ 1.9Ghz for a 1101HA....almost ;-) I had been drooling over the Gateway LT31 @ Best Buy but the combination of no N wireless, no Bluetooth, no solid overclocking capability and the lame webcam makes me want to stick with my HE for a bit longer.

Can anyone confirm this? Just got the 1101HA for my gf and she is happy about the overclock but if you added more memory before it got rid of the option, if you can do both with this new bios that would be fantastic.
Thanks

I updated my bios to 0309 a while ago but it did not enable the overclocking option. Could just be my RAM though.. still waiting to hear more experiences...
oops.. sorry that was BIOS 0303... going to update now..

Okay just updated to 0309 and it did not re-enable overclocking. Tried two different 2GB RAM sticks.

I have a Kingston RMN2-800/2G. Haven't tried with any other brand.

Hello, I apologize for my English ... I upgraded to the new 0309 bios but I have appeared in the BIOS overclocking option ?????? my ram installed it is a 800mhz kingston 2gb KVR800D2S6/2G PC2-6400 CL6 SODIMM 200. Is there a problem with this ram??
We work with the ovrclock with 2GB? with what brand of RAM?
thank you very much

After one day, I rebooted and entered setup - and the overclocking option is missing again. I tried using the 1GB memory, and overclocking is back; installing the 2GB memory the overclocking disappears. So it apparently only worked right after flashing with 0309. Anyone else had the same experience?

I also installed the 309, Win XP, 2GB of RAM and yes now I have the 30% overclock enabled in the BIOS. Btw RAM is 800mhz from Crucial.

Hi there, I have the same problem with my eee pc 1101HA when installing 2GB of kingston memory even with bios 0309.
Blue13x could you please inform me the exact model of your crucial memory?
I'm going to try with Hynix HYMP125S64CP8-S6 that seems to be the same memory of the original one but 2GB, but I have to order it overseas.
I see also there are 4GB memory module do you know if are supported?
Thank you anyone could help.

4GB won't work. Max 2.

Thank you but what about the model of your crucial ram?
I ordered part number it should be CT1008713 since the crucial site report this model fully compatible with eeepc 1101HA
Thank you
Andrea

What is the standard speed and latencies of the origional 1gb stick that comes with the PC? (Can someone check with CPUZ?) That may have something to do with the overclocking issue here. The BIOS may be set not to allow overclocking with slower memory modules to prevent bluescreens.

The original memory module from Hynix is the HYMP112S64CP6-S6 AB-C here you can find the datasheet
http://www.hynix.com/inc/pdfDownload.js … ev0.7).pdf
CPU-z report 4-5-5 (CL-tRCD-tRP) in the memory tab there are no other value displayed.
I hope to be useful.

I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00134 … oh_product

It seems that the memory that comes with the netbook is DDR2 800 with timings 6-6-6 at 800 mhz. However, CPU-z reports 4-5-5 at stock (for the netbook) speeds, meaning that the memory is probably underclocked to 533mhz at stock speeds.
This would leave plenty of overhead for 'overclocking' the netbook. At 1.33ghz, the memory should be at 533mhz. At 1.73ghz, memory should be at 693mhz. At 1ghz, memory should be at 400 mhz.
It appears that the 800mhz memory from crucial also has timings 6-6-6 (same speed and timings as the original memory, except its 2gb). That may explain why the 800mhz crucial memory works and other 2gb dimms don't.
Perhaps we should start an official memory thread regarding this issue. People can post what memory they've purchased and whether or not it works and whether or not overclocking is enabled for them (also what BIOS they're using).
Has anyone tried manually setting the memory timings of their 2gb stick in the BIOS to see if they can re-enable overclocking?

Can you set the memory timings in the BIOS? Because I dont think I've seen that.

I agree the need to open a official thread!
For any information I tried to install 2G kingston memory module model KVR800D2S6/2G (as per Rafiluccio previous post) from the PC of a friend of mine, and I confirm it doesn't works, returning to the original one everything goes ok.
I'm waiting for the crucial CT1008713 I ordered and I'll let you know.

Most desktop and laptop computers (even OEM machines) usually allow you to manually set memory timings in the BIOS (in case they don't recognize a memory module correctly etc). I don't have my 1101HA yet, so I don't know if you can or not (or how to), but you should be able to.
Try exploring the various menus in the BIOS to see if you can find something.

Might be relevant: I updated the BIOS to the latest BEFORE putting in the 2GB ram.

There's no way to manually set memory timings!

Today asus replies my inquiry saying:
...your notebook is upgradable up to 2GB DDR II 533...

I upgraded to BIOS 309 and directly after to 2GB and now I dont access the overclocking settings. The RAM is Apacer for ASUS. What a shame... hopefully I can get a refund for this memory if it doesnt work. Windows detects the 2 GB.
