LOOKS GREAT SO FAR!!!
Keep It Up CMS...

One question though
I was under the assumption, that the Sensor would also be internal, like how the webcam is...

Or Something like the LED mods that people have, Just have a raised up hole, for the sensor to come through?

in my previous posts, I already stated that Im leaving the sensors out, Its a much easier process wink

Right now Im stripping down some old USB wires and wireing them to each usb port, that way, I wont have to lift the motherboard if I want to hook something up in the future big_smile

I mean i guess a microSDHC COULD prove worthy, but why not just use the onboard Mem Card reader?

Whatever, its personal preference i guess

Why not a SD card? Instead of USB Drive

Because you might want to use the external card reader for reading other cards, and the problem with having an emergency drive is having it with you when you have an emergency!

Same reason Asus formats the HDD into two partitions so you can use F9 for a system restore but this can free that option up with your own backup.  So you can reclaim the recovery partition for your own use.  Also the ability to run the computer in essentially solid state mode when traveling to make sure you don't damage your HDD on rough trips.

But yes, it depends on personal preference. . .

Dominic wrote:

SD card requires a reader, takes up more space, USB drive can be connected right to an available USB connection.   For the way Cms uses it, it also is better because not every system will have a SD card reader but every system will have a USB port.

@Cms, some recovery tools require 1GB or less USB drive because larger can damage certain BIOS... if you're into system recovery and want the best tool for the job. Alternatively you can use Grub to make a multi-boot USB Drive with as many apps and OS's as it'll fit. . .

Re: CMS combo mod 1000he (hub+light+GPS+Duo Internalized)

Hey, if you have the space you might want to check this out... http://www.hwtools.net/Adapter/USBMA.html

You can use that with a spare USB connection to relocate your WIFI card and use the Mini Port for that Broadcom Crystal HD card?

Or save it for a 3G mod later?

So that card has a SIM Slot, so all i would need is a Mini PCI-e 3g Modem, right?
And i could mod that to a USB hub inside my eee?

@CMS
Everyone on here, tells me its a bad idea to use a USB Hub on my webcam port...
Well if im not drawing more than 500ma, im safe right?
Webcam, plus a small USB Bluetooth Dongle, cant be much drain?

Re: CMS combo mod 1000he (hub+light+GPS+Duo Internalized)

Yup, the module they sell connects to USB.  The internal Wifi card doesn't use it's USB connection so you can get it from there and the 1000HE should have enough space to keep this internal.

I recently modded a 900A with a touchscreen and used one of the hub's USB ports to add a USB 16GB Super Talent Pico drive.  Works fine with the whole thing connected to the webcam port.

The USB Bluetooth should be fine as well, worst case you might not be able to use bluetooth and the webcam at the same time but I doubt that would be the case.

What model Eee do you have?  The 1000HE comes with bluetooth. . . If a similar model it might have the connections for the Bluetooth already?  Like the 900A doesn't come with bluetooth but it has the same soldering points that are on the 901, just missing the port plug but can be used with a quick solder (the on/off switch may not work though but just like the USB you can software shut it down)

Should i solder a Dongle into that port?
Or should i buy the Bluetooth Device that asus uses?

The one Asus sells comes with the connector, which I don't think your motherboard has and is pretty hard to find.  So in either case you would have to solder, so whichever is easier for you.  Being just Bluetooth, any USB 2.0 would do, I just got a really tiny one myself that I'm putting inside. . .

Unfortunately, this one doesn't work inside the case.  I tried this unit below and above the motherboard and it failed to pick up a signal.  And it really is too tall to fit above the motherboard without causing a bulge in the palm rest.

Cms,

I buy the same one. Internaly will not work.
I had a problem with the gps connected direct on usb and doesn't fix any satellite. I contact the customer service and this was the answer:

"Did you use the extension cable or did you connect the unit directly to your computer? With some computer, the interference can be strong enough to block the signal. However, the interference is short range and if you use extension cable, it will by pass the interference.

If the above suggestion does not work, please follow the instruction below and return the item for exchange.

Please print this email and return with the item to

REP0623-260413675943
GPSLot
555 E. Live Oak Ave

Ones I use the extension it works.
You should try another one.
