Halo 1 - confirmed
URT2004 - confirmed
my specs: 4G 701 windows xp pro sp2, stock 512 ram (512 paging file) running processor at stock speed (no overclocking) and no mods.
important notes: both these games ran great for me, but its important to note that i ran them in a somewhat unconventional way. niether of these games was ever actually on a drive on my eee. what i did was i put the games on my home desktop and shared the folders they were in, i made sure network users had the ability to change the files. sidenote: both the desktop and the eee were connected via wireless to my dsl router. using the free program 3D-Analyze (v2.36) i ran the games off the desktop using the eee. 3D-Analyze is easy to use and it emulates a lot of nessesary features the intel graphics lack. in the program you select the executionable of the game you want to play, under that there is an option to open it a "read only", using that helps.
so the final result was that i was able to play both these games succesfully over a wireless network while the files for the games existed on a seperate computer. it wasnt 100% perfect, it takes longer to start the games and the resolutions were not exactly right, but i played both of them for about an hour each.
Online with halo: i could not connect to all servers but i could connect and play on some, and once i got inside the game i did not have any abnormal lag at all. one small bug, while normally the kills are displayed on the left side of the screen, they did not show up when i played. not a big deal for me. i kicked a few people's butts online, 7 inch screen and all.
Online with URT2004: it took a little bit to load everything but once i was in the game i was able to join a deathmatch game online easily (only tried one game) the framerate was pretty good, no lag, a little hard to see what i was doing on the little screen but i was able to play pretty well. (i played both of them on the lowest settings, URT2004 was in 800x600)
i think this program 3D-Analyze is the key, otherwise i dont see how i could be able to play these games so well when they are stored on a totally different computers and are only connected via a 54 mbts wireless router. especially considering my eee is all stock, 512 ram, not overclocked, etc.
pretty sweet overall, my buddies are not going to believe me when i tell them i was playing UrT2004 over a wireless network using simple file sharing.

How did you get it working? Mine seems to freeze after the initial movies...

Well, I must admit I've just copied a cracked version from my desktop PC to my EeePC. So maybe your version is checking for an internal cd/dvd-drive or something?
I do also have installed the latest official asus intel graphics driver from the asus site (dunno it's the same version that's shipped on the dvd).

Thanks for testing.
Maybe I'll give it a try, but like you said it's a bit laggy I'm afraid it's not very fun to play...
Also tested GTA San Andreas. It starts very quickly and it recognizes the 800x480 resolution, but framerate is very low. Slow motion effect
Not playable.

I am working on Pirates of the Burning Sea, took about 3 hours to install to the SDHC, loads fine, updates fine, but wont play. I am going to try it on the modified drivers that seem to make all of the other games run.

Thanks to everyone for testing the games.
I'll update the first post tonight (so I dont have to update mire than once a day)
Keep up the testing.

When I set the CPU to AI = 10% (lowest) then it played great. This was the most effective setting, and all others to LOW. The Visibile Distance can be at 75% or higher and not much difference in lag.
thnx, I will try ![]()

GTA Vice City (and i guess GTA3 also) is working pretty good (it's a bit slow when there's a lot of traffic/rain/crashes). This is basicly what I did:
1. install Vice city from a CD/image to an exteral device (i used a 40GB external USB2.0 HDD)
2. hook up an external screen and set the videocard to that screen
3. start the game and set the resolution to 800x600
4. open the game on the screen of the eee pc
5. set the resolution to 800x480 and set widescreen to "on".
6. Play
Here's a video of my EEEpc running vice city:

Starfleet Command 2 and SFC2: Orion Pirates work, albeit with scrolling.

Maplestory also works on the EEE.

Populous The beggining: Confirmed Playable

These two have not been tested with the standard driver. I will test the games in whichever driver I feel is currently working best. (I will of course note which) At the moment the Asus driver, leaves much to be desired.

Don't think it's gonna run but try massive entertainment's Ground Control. It's free and runs like a charm.

You can add Gothic 1, Deus Ex, and City of Heroes to the list.
Gothic 1 plays well at max settings, with rarely a drop in framerate. I've only gotten slightly lower framerates in the Old Camp, in some heavily populated areas. Starts up as 800x600, but can be changed to 800x480 in options.
Deus Ex also plays smoothly (in single player at least, haven't tried multiplayer). Settings maxed. Some choppiness in areas with lots of detail. Starts 800x600, but 800x480 can be selected.
City of Heroes... This is an interesting one, as the launcher for it is too big for the normal screen resolution, so you have to switch to 800x600 to be able to hit the "Play Now" button. Defaults to 800x600 fullscreen with scrolling. Tried switching to 800x480 fullscreen, but when restarted, the game said that 800x480 wasn't supported. Possibly because I switched it to 800x600 to get through the launcher, then quickly switched back to 800x480. Will try windowed later. As for how it runs, framerate is rather low (forgot to check what the actual framerate was), even with all settings set rather low (didn't try absolute minimum yet). Didn't run around or anything, so I wasn't able to check how the framerate differs in different areas. Also, the UI is horrendously huge. Need to check if there's a way to shrink the entire UI. Otherwise, it might be somewhat difficult to play.
Tried Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, and Legacy of Kain: Defiance. Defiance doesn't run at all (says video card is not supported). Soul Reaver 2 gets to the title screen, lets you go through the menus and such, but when you try and start a new game, the screen goes black, and then just stays black. Interestingly, if you had it in 800x600 (it supports that and 800x480), then the screen resolution switches back to 800x480 when you try and start a new game. I think it has something to do with it trying to play the opening movie, and it not working for whatever reason. I'll try later with my save games from my other computer, see if it allows me to get ingame.
Oh, also tried Daemon Vector (some action RPG probably nobody's ever heard of). Runs decently. Kinda choppy in areas with more detail or enemies. Game itself rather mediocre, though, so meh.
Gonna try Gothic 2 later today, and possibly Matrix Online as well.
Edit: You can bypass the City of Heroes updater by making a shortcut to the actual CityofHeroes.exe, and adding the command line option "-project coh", without the quotes, of course. That way, you can set up two shortcuts. One to the updater and one to the game, so you can still update before playing.
Edit 2: Ok, more City of Heroes.
In game, it'll start up as 800x600 fullscreen. We don't want that, cause scrolling is annoying. So in options, set resolution to Windowed. Also, while you're there, set UI scale down. I have mine set at 64% (the minimum), but 80's also pretty good. That makes it so that there's no huge honkin UI taking up the entire screen, overlapping itself. Also while you're there, set the graphics settings down. I have pretty much everything at the minimum. And it runs. Decently. Better than I've heard WoW runs, at least ![]()
Gothic 2 plays well, too. The game starts at 800x600, and this one doesn't have the option to change to 800x480 in the options. But it does have a Gothic.ini in the system folder of the install. And there you can set it to 800x480. And then it runs perfectly, screen wise. Framerate wise, I have it set to 200% view distance (300% gave too much lag for my taste), and everything else maxed, and it's good to go. Very playable framerates, for a game that actually looks quite good for it's age.
Matrix Online is currently patching, but at least it's launcher actually fits on the screen ![]()
Now, I kinda wanna try and see if Devil May Cry 3 would run on this... But something tells me it wouldn't too well... Oh well.
