There's a native port of Quake1 somewhere isn't there. I don't own Q1 so I can't say. I did have Quake 2 going for a little bit prior to a reinstall.
I would mention ioquake3 along with Quake3 since that rebuild seems to get sound working.
Enemy territory works on the eee but I can't get the sound working even with the magic catting things in proc stuff which is supposed to get it to work. If anyone has gotten this to work I'd love to hear how.
There's also Tremulous and World of Padman. I had the latter running but wasn't a fan.

You may want to add two further categories to Linux (native) and Linux (wine), namely ScummVM and DosBox. I haven't installed DosBox but I have played the beginnings of various Lucas Arts games and others using ScummVM and there is a good guide on installing it in the wiki

Good idea, Ive played some good games on old DosBox.

DosBox is a good but slower (and more portable) option. Linux can run dosemu which through various Linux magic and basically run a dos program at near native speeds.
Also, if you open your cupboard, plug in the eee, configure the wireless and enable opensshd you could probably ssh into your eee and play with it while it says in the cupboard.
But maybe that's just me

Anyone tried running World of Warcraft off a USB HDD using Wine?

Dopewars works

All three Introversion games work. Defcon and Uplink are definitely playable.
For Uplink, you'll probably have resolution issues, so you need to run it for the first time with "uplink '!graphics_screenwidth' 800 '!graphics_screenheight' 480", all subsequent runs of the game will run fine.
Defcon you will need to disable Smooth Lines in the options; after that it will run very well. Framerate is not always perfect (and the touchpad is bit of a chore to use with that game at first, but you can definitively adjust; I did). It's not a twitch game though, so you'll be fine, trust me (except when you play me though! Muahahahahahaha!) The Wargames mod might make it a bit easier to make out on the 7" screen.
While I can start Darwinia with no apparent resolution problems, but I haven't found a way to make the FPS playable so far, even with all settings at their lowest. I might be missing something, so feel free to try and prove me wrong.

Can confirm ioQuake3 works with UrbanTerror 4. (I tried it last month). At 630 Mhz and 512 MB, frame rates was horrible (10-30). Haven't tried with 900 Mhz and 2GB yet. In the best case it can go up to 15-45 fps, which is barely playable. (everything low/off, etc.)

I plan to see if I can get the following games to run under wine, soon as I buy my Eee in ~two weeks: Starsiege, Starsiege: Tribes, Tribes 2, Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun, C&C Red Alert 2, C&C Renegade. There was also a native linux version of Tribes 2 released, so I'm going to see if I can get my hands on that.
Does "RCT1/2" happen to mean Roller Coaster Tycoon?

Yes, I beleive RCT1/2 is Roller Coaster Tycoon. Now if someone could try RCT3 (I play it more than 2).

You should add OpenTTD (Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe) to the list of native Linux games. Works great.

I'm surprised nobody has tried installing Unreal Tournament with the Linux installer yet.
Luckily, I have the sitting and waiting for me at my family home, so I'll try it myself in a few days.

Has anyone tried Warcraft III w/ Frozen Throne expansion yet?

Thanks to the mods for making this sub forum. It is really about time.
I happily got FCEUltra working tonite. I am pleasantly surprised how well it runs. I played many NES games to death back in the day, and I can say this emu does a perfect job, both with video and audio reproduction. Be sure to read the man page and readme.
Installation: sudo apt-get install fceu
You can remap the control keys for the player 1 controller in FCEUltra by starting it up with the command:
fceu -inputcfg gamepad1 romfile.nes
It will save the keystrokes you enter in permanently.

As my first post I would like to report that Warsow works fine for me. I downloaded the full package and ran ./warsow.i386. I cranked down the quality settings and it seems to run acceptably. The sound isn't too good but it's there.
I would like to run it from the SD card but if I try to launch it from there I get a permissions error. I've had a look in the forums but can't find a solution.
Any suggestions would be very welcome.

atanks runs but its operating windows are too large for the display.
By the way it is your typical "artillery" firing game; a genre I love to play but have yet to see a version that fits well on EeePC.

I can see no reason why UT shouldn't install and run fine. The installer for Linux was developed by icculus and is similar to the ones for Quake3 and OpenArena. I suspect that the original UT is the only one which would run on the Eee, as later versions have greater requirements.

@Electroman: DOSBox would likely run Scorched Earth (arguably the best pre-Worms artillery game) very well.

What about the likes of:
AssaultCube
Cube
LinCity-NG
Nexuiz
Super Tux
SuperTuxCart
Tremulous
OpenArena
Frets on Fire
FlightGear
FreeDoom
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
TrueCombat: Elite

Frets on Fire works. I have the folder on an SD card. The graphics are a little slow, but if you time your playing with the music, it comes out okay.

Would anyone be willing to check out how well a game called Eternal Lands runs on the default OS, and windows xp? It can be found on www.eternal-lands.com. There's a linux client, as well as windows, mac, and 1-2 others.

Foobillard works beautifully. Really nice gfx and sound.
BTW, does just anybody have permission to edit the EeeUser Wiki? I've remained unregistered for a possible reason that it may not be for me to mess with.
