I used the Asus update links to update my wifi drivers and they installed Azurewave drivers and not the RALINK drivers I was expecting, needless to say, they didn't work. I had to get the new drivers direct from RALINK to solve the problem. Is Azurewave another chipset or is it an Asus package?

Last night Realtek released a new version, 5.10.0.5730 for 2K & XP and 6.0.1.5730 for Vista (dated from Oct. 31st, 2008, signed on Nov. 4th., 2008), also known as 2.08, of their sound driver.
You may download the changelog file as well as a downsized (only 11,9 MiB for 2K & XP or 8,2 MiB for Vista but still everything including) version from my download section.
URGENT DO NOT DOWNLOAD THESE FILES!
I scanned them before using them, since they were privately hosted, here were the results:

Hi,
I tried updating the elantech touchpad driver from 7.0.3.8 to 7.0.3.9. After updating, the elantech tray icon does not have the elantech control tab! so you can't make any changes to the touchpad settings. Has anyone else had this problem?
I backed down to the 7.0.3.8 driver and everything works as before. So why did the new driver cause this problem?
thanks

that's interesting. did you uninstall the previous version AND restart before running the installer? i've had no problems going from x.5 to x.8 and finally x.9 (which i did last night btw) and i was successful. another step i take is; after the restart, I run C Cleaner and do a Reg. clean, then I run the updated driver Installer.

I found this site:
http://www.driverheaven.net/other-video … -file.html
and I have installed the drivers. Everything installed ok, except the driver was unknown and caused a pop up, and then upon restart I had to select to not ask again when running the Intel program files.
Now there are no pop ups and my EEE works fine. There is still no support for the 1024 X 768 screen size.
As far as I know these drivers are to help with gaming support.
Also Windows says there is a new hardware so I need to rerun the performance score. Upon doing that my EEE crashed.
With this result:
Windows NT Version 6.0 Build: 6001 Service Pack 1
Product (0x3): Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
Edition: HomePremium
BuildString: 6001.18145.x86fre.vistasp1_gdr.080917-1612
Flavor: Multiprocessor Free
Architecture: X86
LCID: 1033
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033
Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 50
BCP1: 92E78B6C
BCP2: 00000000
BCP3: 8B61BE73
BCP4: 00000000

Looking in the installation setup file, the Video RAM is incorrect, so I am fixing that and trying to reinstall. See how that goes. It was set at 512, but ours is 256 I believe.
Have yet to do more testing.

Success! I have replaced the following:
In the graphics folder, the file called: igdlh.inf
[i945G0.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 512
[i945G1.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 512
[i945GM0.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 512
[i945GME0.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 512
[i945GM1.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 512
to:
[i945G0.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 256
[i945G1.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 256
[i945GM0.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 256
[i945GME0.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 256
[i945GM1.GeneralConfigData]
MaximumNumberOfDevices = 2
MaximumDeviceMemoryConfiguration = 256
Then install the driver files.
Now running the Vista Experiance Index does not crash.
My rating also has gone up to 2.8!
Processor: 3.1
Memory: 4.4
Graphics: 4.0
Gaming Graphics: 2.8
Hard Disk: 4.8

Thanks to help and advice in this topic, I installed the latest Elantech touchpad drivers a couple of weeks ago, after uninstalling the previous drivers.
Can anyone tell me please, if I am downloading any of the other updates listed on page 1 of this thread (BIOS, WiFi, etc) do I also need to uninstall any previous versions as I did with the touchpad driver, or does this happen automatically during the installation process.

When I install the latest audio drivers, the Function+Mute button no longer mutes the sound.
Does this happen with anyone else?
Offline
With the new audio drivers, my fn-mute does work still, but the sound quits after standby now, requiring a reboot to get it back. Plus, the new drivers didn't fix the slight audio noise I've been getting.
Offline
i had the same problem no mute and no sound after hibernate or stand by so i revert to r 2.05 everything ok

Use the official ACPI fix then
Same thing happens on XP so ACPI fix won't help. Only reverting will.
