From the nlite forums
iTunes 6.0.4.2 + Winamp 5.24 + NTI CD Maker 6.5+ Dependency: Wmasf.dll + Wmidx.dll
If you remove Windows Media Player 8 (but leave Windows Media Player Classic 6.4) with nLite from Windows XP these programs will not function correctly or will display missing file errors when opening because they require the following files that are removed: Wmasf.dll + Wmidx.dll. If you add these files back into the System 32 folder from an non Nlited XP install these programs will function correctly with no errors.
Update: The same applies to iTunes 7, NTI CD Maker 7, and Winamp 5+!

I had the same problem. Checked System32 and found I had the DLL's mentioned above but iTunes 7.5 still wouldn't start.
My solution was to install 7.4, which is now working perfectly but started with an error message, linking to this page: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305999
That support page references the following dll's:
softpub.dll
wintrust.dll
dssenh.dll
rsaenh.dll
gpkcsp.dll
sccbase.dll
slbcsp.dll
mssip32.dll
cryptdlg.dll
initpki.dll
I haven't tried this with 7.5 yet but this should help, assuming the Windows Media DLL's don't help with the problem.
And 7.4 seems good enough right now. Was fully compatible with a library exported from 7.5 on my desktop and all the music store songs are still working, even with songs purchased on 7.5.

I had the same problem with 7.5. I tried 7.4.3, then 7.4.2, with no luck. Oddly enough 7.4.1 worked. I then installed 7.5 and it now works. Wierd.

i think unless you have an iphone, you dont really need 7.5
7.4.1 should all work ok, it'll prompt you with an error about it "might not work properly" but just OK that.

My iTunes 7.5 will run and show up in the process-list... But no GUI shows up. No error either.
Tempted to do a "full" XP install when I get my 8G this morning.
