I've just received one of these (got fed up of waiting on ASUS), amazing service. Ordered late thursday evening, arrived saturday morning... Wow.
http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct.aspx … 59501ACA81
I'll do a bit more of an in depth look at it when I get chance next week (proper timings etc), but currently it's been sitting for 3.5 hours on full brightness, wireless on streaming music for around 3.5 hours
Which I am extremely happy about.
The battery is a little larger/heavier than the original (it protrudes something line 5mm further back), but the colour match is close enough not to worry, and it still (just) fits into it's sleeve.
Overall, looks like a good purchase, but I'll check it out fully in the next few days just in case it ends up suffering from the jump start problem.
If the £10 trade in actually happens, I'll probably take it up now, just to get two decent capacity batteries to hand.
*edit* switched off at just over 4 hours... Nice.
Next test 50% brightness + no wifi.

Could you possibly post a pic of it installed/uninstalled? One more question....does it make the eee less prone to tipping backwards (ie like on the couch) when screen is open? Thanks
for the report!

I'm doing a performance test of this battery right now.
With Brightness & volume at 50%, it managed to repeatedly play an AVI from the internal SSD (on a 900) for over 5 hours. That's with wifi off. The current test is with wifi on (as I have tested all the other batteries, including the smaller CS battery) is still running. When it completes, I will be writing up a short review for the eeeuser blog (that's the news items on the front page).

I'll try and get some pics sorted out later today, Jon may well beat me to it tho ![]()
I'd say it's less prone to tipping actually, as the extension is straight out from the back (about 10mm rather than the 5 I put in my first post.. I was looking across the room at it when I typed!!!).
It's currently on recharge (I don't like recharging brand new batteries over night, after the few 'explosive' episodes which have been reported), so once it's back up I'll be doing another similar test to Jon.
It looks like calibrating it is pretty important, when I first plugged it in and recharged it stuck at 2% charge, and stayed there for the whole of yesterdays test.

As promised, a few images...
Currently running down the battery again, strangely battery calibration does not appear to have happened (still reading 2%), although to be fair the instructions do say it may take a few full discharges, but we'll see.

Wow awesome pics thx so much! I like it....it's not as big as I thought it would be. So....what has your feeling been on the new battery keeping the screen from being opened out all the way? I don't think it would bother me as I never find myself opening it that far. Thx again for the pics
I will be ordering 6600mah soon. The battery life seems to be great!

yes, it does restrict the angle the screen can open, but I only noticed that yesterday after using it quite a bit, so not a big thing issue from my point of view.

I can confirm similar performance - I watched an AVI file on the train (full brightness and high volume - on headphones) for about 45 minutes, and did about half an hour of typing, and the battery went from 90% to 70%. I would therefore expect to get around 5 hours of non-wifi usage from a full-charged battery, which compares very favourably with the 2.5-3 hours I'm getting from the 4400.

Hi,
Has anyone tried the 12 cell 10400MAH Battery which is available on e bay or indeed the 6 Cell 7800mAh version that clove also sell on their site ??? Im asking as i'm looking for a good battery soloution so that i can watch movies etc on long hall flights.

Report in the press about one of the 10400mAh batteries over heating and causing terminal (as in DEAD!) damage to the eee. Not covered by the ASUS guarantee as the battery was not of an approved i.e. ASUS make.
Apparently during charging the battery overheated and the Lithium gel in the battery went POP!! Not a major bang but sufficient to cause damage. (this may also be scare mongering as it's only a single instance or a duff battery)

Just to share.
I ordered my Mugen 7800mAh battery from HERE this morning.
Costed me $91 inclusive of shipping worldwide.
It comes with 6 month warranty.
Seller immediately informed me he will have the battery in stock within 5 days.

I'm just wondering, what bios versions are you using?? Also for the testing conditions, how fast is the processor running?
Thanks in advance for your comments and experiences! I'm on the verge of ordering one of those 6600 batteries ![]()

Mugen or MonoMobile? Be weary of MonoMobile, may just be one size or that particular battery but see http://www.geocities.com/mosc_007/windo … _meter.htm
Best regards

Buy it. You won't regret it, not for what Clove are asking.
The test machine has the original 900 BIOS 0302. I didn't want to upgrade and lose the performance / power saving mode switch (and I understand the auto feature does not work properly either in the later BIOS version).

Thanks for the write-up on the front page Jon, it's very tempting.
Quick question: when you are talking about wi-fi being off, is that it being turned off in the Bios or by disabling it in Windows? I'd imagine it is the former but wonder if disabling it in the OS itself actually saves much power.

It's interesting to me that so many people are getting such horrible battery life with the stock ASUS battery. My 900 with standard 5800mah battery will run for 3 hours or more with wireless on surfing the net, listening to internet radio, etc... The only thing I have set is cpufreq with a min of 450mhz ondemand. It chugs along at 450mhz for the most part, but when it needs the proc it pushes up to 900mhz without a second thought then clocks back down when it's done. Once I get my 900 back from ASUS (16G SSD went bad yesterday) I'll pick up one of these 6600mah batteries just to see what I can get.

Thanks Phil.
In a hurry of getting the 7800mAh, I have bought a MonoMobile and not the Mugen.
Just hoping it is not a bad choice.

Not all roses on this I am afraid ![]()
While I am getting a cracking runtime from this battery, I currently can only do it with the auto shutdown etc disabled as XP is flagging the battery as faulty and showing it constantly charged at 2% (this is under XP). This is even after doing the battery calibration process (probably about 6 times now
)
I have a call in to Clove, so keeping my fingers crossed that they can either give me a solution, or change the battery.
Jon, was your test under XP or Linux ? if it was XP did it read the % capacity correctly (with no red X) ? and did you have to do the calibration process ?

Linux...

I've just returned my battery to Clove. I found the inability to open the lid fully too restrictive. Others may not find it a problem but it's worth bearing in mind.

can you check these batteries plz http://www.duracelldirect.co.uk/laptop- … arger.html
Are these the same as what is available at ebay and other places or it is from duracell?
I dont understand it is 5700 but 6 cells !!

DuracellDirect is the Duracell licensee PSA Parts Ltd. They sell Duracell AS WELL AS OEM and replacement batteries. So the "ASUS" batteries they sell may be third party products, not Duracell.

Well I can tell you that the photograph is of a 4 cell battery. And it's the same price as the big Clove battery, but much lower capacity. Actually, it says it's a 5200, so that is really expensive. If you want 5200mAh buy the smaller Clove one and save a bit of money.
