Here are the hardware hacks I've done so far:
Air Play to broadcast the Eee PC's sound to FM radio:
The tuning buttons mounted on the ram via double sided foam tape:
The button pushers viewed from the back:
The button pushers installed:
The button pushers height clearance:
My Eee PC opened up you can see, starting at the top left, the GPS antenna, below that is the left speaker is the air play antenna, below that is the USB controller for the GPS. Above the camera is the third antenna for the Intel WiFi ABGN card. The touch screen is over the LCD. Below the right speaker is the bluetooth adaptor.
The copper heatsink I made for the CPU, video, and north bridge chip installed on the motherboard:
The heatsink with electrical tape to protect it from shorting out the motherboard, viewed from the side that goes down on the motherboard:
The Intel WiFi ABGN card installed:
Halfway though installing windows XP SP2:
I have a 7" touch screen and two 4 port USB hubs coming in from e-bay, I'll keep updating this thread as I further modify my Eee PC. I look forward to seeing the hacks that all of you have done or will do soon. Happy hacking everyone!

No problem Maximus86,
First I checked this Wiki
http://beta.ivancover.com/wiki/index.ph … ransmitter
out and got the idea for the Air Play to be installed so I can't credit myself for compleate originality but I really enjoy having the buttons accessible without having to unscrew the case.
So after buying the Air Play on e-bay (for a whopping $6 including shipping) and waiting a week I cracked open the case from the bottom. The top of the Air Play has the kind of important FM antenna. After cracking open the Air Play I reread the Wiki and looked at the link for the Pin outs on the Air Play. After verifying that the chart was accurate via multimeter continuity tests, I soldered up the wires to the Head phone jack, 3.3volt power, ground for the unit, 2 wires to the two buttons mounted on the ram via double sided foam tape, a grounded wire across the other side of the two buttons, and of course a wire to the antenna.
The trick I used to perfectly position the holes for drilling through the case was: Put two small pieces of foam tape, the same size of the red buttons on top of the buttons, once mounted the wired buttons where I wanted them on the RAM. Then place a small bead of super glue to the top of the foam tape. Carefully put on the RAM/SSD cover. Carefully remove the RAM/SSD cover after 30 seconds. Mark the Area, remove the silver tape and foam via Exacto knife or razor blade. Drill two holes where you marked, holes must be equal to the holes in the air play for the Grey button pushers. use a Dremel tool with a high speed cut off bit to make the groves for the button pushers arms. Place the button pushers in the holes and a small amount of tape over the arms that are in their groves, See picture above. Trim height of pushers to work with the buttons on the ram.
- Enjoy

Feck. Me. Sideways. That Rocks!I was thinking maybe putting the LCD screen for the Airplay on the bottom as well. would that work? Also, is there a way that you can switch it off so that the music plays through the Eee's speakers?

I have it for sale if you want it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … amp;ih=018![]()

Bit out of my price-range, plus I'm in th UK, so... Anyway, I wanna mod my own.

Nice mod, and I had a good laugh at your ebay listing. Nobody in their right mind would pay HALF that for your eeepc dude. I had to take a double look at it to make sure it wasn't in yen or something lol.

So this thread is really just eBay spam... Nice.

WOW! What's the point. No one will buy it for that much!! The EEE is supposed to be a cheap PC. I think people may pay $1000 max for it with hacks.

hahaha...that was my first though too. I was going to thow my eeePC on ebay. I put almost $2000 into it and that's about what I was going to charge.
I just don't think $1800+ in labor is justifiable.
Also, you work looks sloppy, in my opinion, the wires run all over the place. If you want to justify selling something, especially for that cost, it should be up to spec.

He'll be lucky to get what he has in hardware invested in it. I have a few thousand in mods in my car, I know I'd never get that money back if I sold it.

If it does not sell that's ok by me, I'll still have my rockin' Eee PC. However if it does sell, I'll have some extra cash and make myself another Hacked Eee PC.

I'm not forcing any one to buy my Eee PC. And my work is not "Sloppy", there is no bulging or shorting. All works perfectly. Maybe I should use non braided wiring next time and go with a different color, maybe green, thank you for your constructive criticism. Have a great day everyone ![]()

I'm sorry you see it that way, I started off with my hopes that others would show off their work too. Well someone liked it and I made mention that I had it up on E-Bay. I really don't think that this is "Spam".

wintercs, can i get a list of the hardware you used? Meaning, manufacturer, model, etc. I love what you've done. Massively upgrades the functionality of the eee. I just ordered mine today. I had to. now i'm thinkin i made the right choice!

Respect, however I am far from an expert, but won't the battery will last about 10 minutes with all that hardware? Might want to add at least some dip switches (but it might put the price up by another grand)

Well I decided to hook everybody up and I dropped the auction start price to $1499.00 and the buy it now price to $2199.00. I did put a momentous amount of work into it, so happy birthday world!
