Webcam troubles

I just installed eeeXubuntu r3 and from what I can tell everything works fine other then webcam. The device is there v4l2 UVC Camera (eb1a:2761)

ucview just shows black frame and returns bunch of these in console:
** Message: Could not convert format: MJPEG ( MJPG ) 47504a4d to MJPEG ( MJPG ) 33424752

skype also sees the camera but both test and real call produces just black frame.

I tried the trick where I replace the intel_drv.so with xandros one, but no difference.

Anyone has any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Webcam troubles

Oddly enough (but not totally surprising) switching BIOS option OS Installation to Finished solved my webcam problem. I tested by switching back and forth and it's definitely it.

Re: Webcam troubles

nedim, thanks so much! i had exactly your problem and solved it exactly the same way ... switch the OS install from start to finished in the bios!

after that i was able to run

Code:

sudo echo 1 > /proc/acpi/asus/camera

in the terminal and have fun w/ skype video beta smile

Re: Webcam troubles

Thanks for this - I had exactly the same issue and setting the OS install to finished worked for me too :-)
