You may wait a very long time - I don't see OEM batteries being available until well after mid-summer.
And to answer ---
Does your 5200's performance match the one supplied by Asus ?
Substantially the same is the answer - difficult to control the variables in a battery test, but my 5200 clone is possibly 10% less capacity.

Further test on my 5200, it seems about the same as the original Asus battery.
(myabe 10% less, I'm not as precise as danMdan)
The thing is, when you get that message that says you have 3 more minutes, ignore it, and the battery keeps going for another 15/20 minutes.

Can any one advise which is the best way to purchase the Eee spare battery from Singapore. I have made an enquiry with the authorised dealer in Singapore and they did not even carry any stock.

If you mean an OEM, ASUS branded, battery, - then no-one has any stock - it seems only clones are freely available at present, and probably for further months ahead, as all the ASUS ones go into new Eee PCs..

1st. picture of the 10400 mAh battery clone. Report later after charging it and testing it ! It does raise the back of the Eee about one inch.
See below -- it sure seems to have 4 sets of two batteries in series, so should have the capacity claimed - it fit the Eee perfectly, latches go home easily. So far, at 2 hours running, the battery meter shows 70% charge remaining.
Dan.

Thanks for the info, danMdan. ![]()
70% at 2 hours, that looks promising. Was it with the eeePC idle?

3&1/2 hours after a 12.30 start, the battery meter still shows 50% remaining. This with wireless LAN on and connected to my router, screen on about half full intensity, and running almost continual full system anti-viral scans. Processor temperature at 53 deg. C.

Sorry guys - run time was 4 hours and 47 minutes - never was any good at math. - i.e. 13 minutes short of 5 hours, and that on the first run, and with constant use.
Yes ---
4 HOURS 47 MINUTES
Don't know on the "jump-starting" until it is recharged.

Not on my 4G Eee. The only word against it is that it really is such an ugly "carbuncle" on the Eee.
And it seems to be taking almost as long as run time to re-charge - we need a seperate charging station.

Thanks for the prompt info and initial test results DanMdan!
I was abit skeptical about this battery but ordered one anyway last week. The eBay seller emailed me back saying that he was out of stock but promised that he would have them this week and would let me know when he had them asap.
This morning I got a message from the seller that the battery has been sent along. If all goes well, The FedEx tracking says I should have this battery sometime on the 3rd April.
@DanMdan, yeah I agree with you it's gonna be a monster when fitted to the eee but I'll live with it.... the only thing i'm worried about is how far does the screen tilt back with this battery attached??

Have ordered one as well...

I have tested removal of the battery and re-inserting it -- and confirm that it does not (on my 4G Eee), need to be "jump-started".
Hurrah !
To answer another question - the screen still can go back quite a way past vertical even with this 10400 battery fitted, and it may help with cooling since much of the Eee underside is now up to one inch off a desk surface.
I await other owners tests and comments with interest.

im sure as dan knows as his last battery needed jump starting on one eee but not another this doesnt confirm that the 10400mAh will never need a jump start.
If this bothers you wait till others are have also confirmed no jump start needed to be more sure.
