EPSX playstation emulator - gran turismo 2 works pretty well and you have to limit the frame rate on wipeout 2097. Its too bloody fast otherwise!!

Add to list :
Call of Duty 1 (Runs good enough at 800x480 can tweak graphic options if need more speed) Simple ini file tweak
(Update : it seems setting dynamic lighting to completely off is the most important setting)
Age of Mythology : Runs perfect at 800x480 (add to shortcut xres=800 yres=480)
Swat 3 had issues but can run on external monitor for sure.

I can't help but think that photoshop is just plain pointless on the eee. Screen real-estate is soo important to the program, and that is just one area where the eee is considerably lacking. I mean after opening one toolbar you lose half the screen real estate...
Not to mention the amount of space required to install it.
But I guess to each their own...

FLP or nlighted XP?FLP for now. It's fine for PS but for anything else it's a bit lacking (no DirectX, no game controllers etc.). It's designed for the office environment so they've stripped anything not work related. I did the basic install so there is more I can do if I want. I'll be redoing it tonight with more options, then I'll also be trying and nLite version of XP...
As for as the whole pirate FLP thing. My copy IS legit. Got it at work via the IT guy to test. AKA I'm the guinea pig.
FLP includes DirectX, you just need to install it during initial phase. (Must select Mediaplayer install, they embeded it into this for some reason on FLP). <- I tried excluding this from my first FLP install and attempted to deploy Directx 9.0c redistribute, does not work for FLP. You can unpack and manually deploy the inf's and copy the dll's, unpack the .exe's but it's a little messy.
Concluding that DirectX is included in FLP, you just have to install Mediaplayer also

WoW works. I was getting 5-6 FPS in Shattrath, once I hit a bird I was getting between 16-22 FPS. I wouldn't raid with it, but minor soloing and AHing should be fine. This was with no addons though. Oh, also, I'm at 2GB ram with no pagefile. I tried 512MB and it died during loading when windows complained about low memory.
I ran it from an external HD, needless to say.

Beat me too it. It is a little jerky on default settings but these can be adjusted down.

GTA2 doesnt work (dont know how 2 force it to 800x480)
Age of Empires doesnt work at 100% (it locks to 800x600)
MEchwarrior 3 doenst work (dont know how 2 force it to 800x480)

Doom 3 works. Technically.
I got about 8-10 FPS with the 8804 BIOS at 900MHz.
Totally unplayable, but hilarious to see.

Tonight I installed Medal of Honor Allied Assault and American Mcgee's Alice. Both of them run great. Running both at 800x480 (by changing cfg file) and they look great. I had no idea that these older games could be played with the GMA900. Both these games are based on the Quake 3 engine so it looks like this engine is a good one for the Eee. It is going to be fun to replay these classics. I think that the graphics card I had for my PC when these games were out (Voodoo 5) is bigger than the Eee. Amazing how technology changes...

Hi
I don't have an eee yet, but I'm thinking about buying one, to better enjoy myself on trains and buses... once I can push the battery life to around 5 hours...
anyway, I found this thread, and it sent me back to glorious, forgotten times...

I started making the list myself, then just copied firingsquad's best of 1999 and best of 2000 lists:
http://www.firingsquad.com/features/bes … efault.asp
http://www.firingsquad.com/features/bestgames01/
some of those were not so good, some make no sense anymore (everquest?), but some were a lot of fun back then...

I thought i could get civilization 3 to work but it needs a screen resolution of 1024x768 to run. ![]()

anybody tried these two?

they are multi-os

Dungeon Siege runs very well at 800x600 but not 800x480. I even patched it with 1.11 and had no success. I also tried adding "height=480 width=800" to the target link.

Norman, Simulation - Flanker 2.0 will not run well on EEE PC, my high-end desktop gaming computer is brought down by that game.
Offline
i said it before and i say it again. transport tycoon, with the openTT community which is pretty big for a 10year old game. and everyone has added mods so it can handle alot of resolutions, and run on all o/s's

No One Lives Forever 2 runs well. It will run at maximum settings but it runs better at medium. Of all the games I have tried this one is looking the best. It was released 9/30/02. The 1.3 patch needs to be installed first. Run game and choose display options you want (aside from resolution, it will not let you change 800x600). Exit game and make following changes to the cfg files in root directory:
Autoexec.cfg
"screenwidth" "800"
"screenheight" "480"
"pvmodelfov" "74" ( the default was 65)
Display.cfg
"screenwidth" "800"
"screenheight" "480"
If you go into display options later you will have to change cfg files again (they get over writen with 800x600).

Alot of gamers probably know about this site... and so far it matches up with what everyone is saying here, but if your a new user trying to hack resolutions for a game, then widescreen gaming forum is loaded with info that might help get the perfect 800x480 resolution :

There's now a wiki page based on this information (plus more info from a very similar thread). Please feel free to contribute!

this is all nice, but we are forgetting some big things
$ where is the game installed to / run from?
$ does it use a disc or no disc or an image?
$ What speed is the processor running at? 900 / 63x?
$ How much ram is in the system?
$ what are the settings at (generaly, like "medium")
the wiki and this list is all jice, but these factors can make a large diferance
I just bought my E and will be doing some more for this list, but hopefully in some more detail
Also, has anyone figured out how mich ram is in the shared grfx?
it supports 256 if we can get it there... I cant wait for mine to come in
Can someone try ut2004? It should run on low, that would rock
And sorry about the grammar and such, im in the military and my phone is my sole internet access so it gets rough some times. Happy first poster here tho!!
