Did you spend any time with Google by typing the keywords "Archos Jukebox 6000" + Linux? - because I found quite a few hits for you from folks who have made it work. Try this one:

Installing Gnomad2 was no help at all with my Creative zen stone plus - it couldn't see any files either ..

Archos players are great and work with anything and everything.

I used a samsung Y-U1 along with amarok with no problems at all, it handled transfer of files mp3 to ogg etc, detecting the device and once i had sorted out the commands providing me with one click transfer etc. all in all a pleasurable experience.
having switched to embedded xp at the moment i am still searching for something that is as easy to use, unfortunately nothing stand sout. I am using juice which gets my podcasts but cannot handle the transfer, so i have to do it manually.
still got to stay with xpe for a while, but i know i will be switching back to the default os as soon as i can

fdisk or cfdisk in a terminal will format from the eee from xandros, but that only caused it to be unmountable (xandros, fedora and windows) with dmesg reporting:
sdc: p1 exceeds device capacity
so, I reformatted it in Windows (as FAT32) and it restored everything to how it was (minus files).
The only was I can see files on it from the eee is by booting into eeexubuntu.

Does your Eee recognize that something has been attached, ie, is does a USB icon appear in the systray? If so you may just need to click View>Show All File Systems in File Manager to access it like a drive under a folder named All File Systems. I had to do this to use a couple of USB card reader/adapters, the ones you stick a card in and use like a USB drive. Doesn't sync, but at least you can copy and delete.

it recognises my zen stone plus and even displays the name and icon in file manager. it lets me copy files into it ok but when i then turn the player on to use it says there no music. if i put music on it with any other computer then plug it into my eee it doesnt see anything on it. is frustrating.

My Cowon A2 30GB came up very nicely (athough I can't remember the name that appeared in File Man., maybe a Toshiba drive). In any case, I was able to access all the playable formats of video and audio through the eee.
When I have a chance this weekend, I may try the instructions lagagnon posted above for my old Archos Jukebox Recorder since it didn't connect at all.

My iRiver H140 works fine.
@3DOg: I'll try my wife's Archos Jukebox Recorder 10Gb on the Eee.

I just got my amazingly wonderfull eeep Wednesday. I'm new to Linux and I've read many of the posts, but there don't seem to be any other Audible.com addicts among us. My MuVo 100 is recognized but I can't get my Audible library to down load. Audible keeps telling me I need to have their software installed, but I'm afraid. I'M VERY AFRAID.
What should I do?

zen stone plus solution/workaround on http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php? … 87#p134087 is to mount it manually ..
- plug it in
- find out which device and partition it is, for example
sudo fdisk -l
I can see my zen stone plus is /dev/sdb1
- make a directory to mount it on eg
mkdir zen
- mount it eg
sudo mount /dev/sdb1 ./zen
bingo, as if by magic all files on the zen appear in the directory you just mounted on ..
(meanwhile the automatically created directory ;ZEN Stone Plus' is empty, even if I turn on show hidden files, only 1 file appears called .directory)

margretli - Go into the settings menu and select the USBMode and make sure MSC is selected. When you plug it to the Eee, it should show up in the file manager. If you have a microsd card plugged in, that should show up as well. I don't have a View yet, just the e260, but I think they use the same interface.
Speaking of mp3 players and getting them to work, here is a poser. Does anyone know how to connect an Archos Jukebox 6000 to the Eee or any version of Linux? I know its a dinosaur that uses its own driver, but I've upgraded it from 6 to 40GB and it still works great. (read - Too cheap to buy something newer).
Thanks.
I finally got my Eee to see my Sansa View. Turns out the settings menu does not have the option for me to change into MSC mode. To manually turn on MSC mode: activate the hold switch and press and hold the left button and plug the player into the computer.
I did this and the View is showing up as a USB drive with all the folders.

Awsome it worked. now i can finally use my zen with my eee.
instead of having to open a terminal and typing in "sudo mount /dev/sdc1" or whatever yours is named, you can create a new item in the menu to make it faster, just open menu editor and select where you want to put it (i used multimedia). select new item and name it (i used Zen Stone Plus). under command simply put "sudo mount /dev/sdc1" or again whatever your device is named then select run in terminal (if you even want you could assign a shortcut key). close this and save it. now the first time you connect your zen/mp3 just select it from the menu and the terminal will flash on for a second and your player is mounted.
this will only work the first time you connect your player. each time you connect its given a new device name and will need to be done manually again.

I did the surprisingly simple and effective directions from guimjr to connect my creative zen nano plus 1G to my eeepc. The computer recognizes the device and I am able to play music off the mp3 player. This is a huge step for me and I am very happy.
However, I can't figure out how to transfer, say, downloads from my computer to the zen nano plus. Drag and drop doesn't work, neither does cut and paste, and there isn't a "move to" file command that I can use. Has anyone else figured this out? There must be a way now that my zen nano plus is recognized. Do I need to save the music file on the computer to another type of file? Does it need to be done manually through the terminal? Or will changing to vlc make it work better?
Thanks.

Follow-up
I figured out how to transfer music files - in case anyone else has this problem. I can also now use my Creative zen nano 1G without having to go through amarok. I learned about the trick of (in advanced mode) going to launch - applications - system - administrator tools - file manager (administrator). From there I could click and drag the files on the tree.
Shouldn't this all be in a wiki?

probably you have to change permissions, see the wiki to write on an SD-card without having mounted it as root :
http://wiki.eeeuser.com/howto:sd_permissions
you can probably adapt this

Just tried my new Nokia N95 8GB with my eee PC 4GB and it connected happily in the N95's "data transfer" mode. In file manager the N95 comes up as a HDD and I can access all my music and play it through the eee PC. I can even transfer music to and from. Great !!
