EEEPC Utility can not work with LT's Driver.
kkjj,
As far as I know it does not work with the IEGD driver build I made, but I have never even tried it.
Both you old version and new version of the utility DO work with the Intel and Asus modified version I made. I've used both and they function just fine.

@htwingnut
For example:
I use 800x600 with scaling. and i want use 800x600 without scaling.
you should set no scaling with other resolution(not 800x600). and set the resolution is 800x600.
Inter vga driver detect resolution changed. IF the resolution before changed and after changed are the same. The driver do nothing.
it's not my application problem. It's intel driver limited.

Hi KKJJ just want to say thank you for a great app. I'm using intels latest driver and your latest app. and it works great. I'd love to see 1000*600 or 1024*600 if you are ever able to sort things out. Keep up the great work.

keep up the good work.... hope to see the 1000x600 resolution like wat everyone is hoping soon... ![]()

Hey, great utility. Works fine with Lazer Tag's modified ASUS video drivers. Step by step I:
1. uninstalled ASUS video drivers
2. Installed LazerTag's modified ASUS video drivers (Well done LT)
3. downloaded kkjj's eeepc_utility
4. extracted the utility to my drive
5. disabled the ASUS video utility (closed it in the tray manually)
6. Ran eeepc_utility and it works like a charm.
So far I am still having problems with resolutions higher than 800x600, though I have no use for anything higher, so I love the utility! The newer features are also very handy, especially caps lock.
THANKS KKJJ!

I'd go along with that, kudos for the efforts thus far, but it seems a little inconsistent in operation.

How so? I've not had an "issue" yet.
For scaling to work
1) You must NOT be in "clone mode" so make sure output is to your internal LCD only.
2) If you are already in the resolution you want, but scaling isn't enabled you must switch resolutions.
For this one let's say I'm at 800x600 but scaling is not che, it will start UNSCALED. To turn scaling on I must not only check the box (if not already) but switch to one resolution and then back. This is just due to Intel's scaling technique from what I can see.
3) When you restart and the E is in 800x600 or 1024x768 and scaling is selected it's still scrolling!
This is normal, again you must switch resolutions to something else and then back to your preferred for scaling to activate properly. I think I saw a post here that you can create a batch file or scipt to run that will run EEEPC_Utility once for 800x480 and then 800x600 one after the other whcih will compensate for this without you having to do it manually. see kkjj's info on starting EEPC_Utility from a command line for that.

Is there any way (LT drivers or other... <>Report this post for spam<>?) to enable scaling while in Clone mode? That is the ticket I am looking for (I do presentations, would love to have it on a projector and my laptop at the same time).
Thanks for all the work of everyone involved. This is really great, and people saying that it is flawed in any way probably have nLite or other stuff on their PC conflicting. I have never had an issue and I've done several wipes/reinstalls. Good job!

is anyone else having trouble trying to download the utility? my internet explorer keeps timing out

I noticed that the command line arguments weren't posted in this thread, so for people who never downloaded EeePC_res here they are:
kkjj wrote:
To All Friends,
EEEPC RES V1 have both command mode.
and GUI mode.
In GUI Mode, It's always enable downscaling. If you need scrolling windows for higher resolution. Please use command only.
Command Mode pattern help:
eeepc_RESV1.exe enablescaling width height colorbit.
EX1:"eeepc_RESV1.exe 1 800 600 32" --Enabled scaling and 800x600x32bits.
EX1" "EEEPC+RESV1.exe 0 1280 1024 16" disabled scaling and 1280x1024x16bits.
It's more flexable.
I will realse a new version after someone lane me the AUSU R2H to traced how to enable 1024x600.
I replaced my EEEPC Bios vga segment with R2H BIOS vga segment. But i can not enable 1024x600. 1/28 my friend will lane me R2H. And i need one week time for trace.
the new version feature:
1.Support 1024x600
2.Check application running.and command mode will not more then twince.
3.icon right click menu add 16 bit's color setting.
4.add external display support scaling .
5.the command mode cound support setting resoluion for external Display.
Notes. The best driver for eeepc_res is R2H Vga Driver and Samsung Q1 VGA Dirver or 7209 UMPC VGA Driver.
To sumozebra ,
Thanks, a lot.

Er, sorry for this, but I'm getting a bit confused:
kkjj said the recommended drivers to use is r2h drivers for his utility
LT said that kkjj utility will work with his hacked Intel / Asus drivers but not the IEGD driver which LT had made
Someone said that kkjj utility worked with the latest Intel Drivers
With the various ways of installing the utility, I'm pretty sure that there are various results coming out from those who tried installing it.
Would be most ideal for noob like me if someone who had successfully installed this great utility to give a detailed breakdown of what is done in a step by step. I'm sure there are people who are in the same position like me.
Peace.. ![]()

Comon people. It's installing a VIDEO DRIVER. If one doesn't work just try a different one
It's been answered a ridiculous number of times already. You are not going to break anything by trying one driver, uninstalling it, and trying a different one.
I'm personally using the latest intel drivers with LT's modified .INF. Works great.

OK, tried it and was very impressed!!
This is what I have done:
1. Get the R2H Drivers and also kkjj's utility at the websit in his first post.
2. Unzipped the R2H Drivers into your preferred directory.
3. Intel System Tray Icon on the taskbar should be disabled [Quit]
4. Without uninstalling the existing drivers, run the R2H Setup.exe
5. Wait for the setup to complete, this may take a little longer, but it will go through.
6. Press next and then choose restart computer.
7. Once restarted, quit the Asus Display Icon from the Taskbar.
8. Run kkjj's utility and select your options. Mine is Scaling button is clicked, chose 800 x 600, and Startup at Windows button is also selected.
9. There you have your 800x600 without scrolling.
Point to note: I think why R2H drivers are chosen. Comparing the generic Intel Drivers and the R2h drivers, the R2H drivers is better because when you chose the Advance tab properties, 800x480, 800x600, 1024x768 resolutions can be selected. The generic Intel Drivers only had one reolution, which is 800x600. This also explain why Asus had their own utility written to include 800x480 and 800x600 resolutions in the first place.
Last but not least, I want to thank kkjj for his efforts in getting this done. The utility is excellent and the UI is very pleasing and very simple to use.
One more thing, for those who want a bigger font but is afraid of messing up the DPI settings, you can do it in another way. Go to Display Properties and click appearance. At the bottom, you can select Normal, Large Fonts and Extra Large Fonts. I chose Large Fonts.
Once again, thank you to kkjj. ![]()
Peace to All..... ![]()

Just to add further, under Display Properties-> Advanced you will be able to come across several tabs. Click on the Intel tab and then click on the Graphics Properties. This will bring up the usual Intel GMA Display where you have the Display Devices, Display Settings, Color Corrections, etc.... Click the Display Settings and there you will be abie to choose between 16 bit or 32 bit. I tried going beyond 1024 x 768, it is still possible to choose resolutions higher than that, but scaling is disabled and scrolling is needed. Cancel it and it will revert back to 800x600 without scrolling. Very impressive utility (not the Intel one but kkjj!!!)
Another point to note:
It might not be possible to get back 800x600 w/o scrolling in suspend mode, as either the chipset or the drivers do not support it. I extracted the information as follows:

Hi, pardon me, what do we mean by scaling and no scaling?? I suppose is diff from scrolling and no scrolling??
And is the Fn F5 still working using KKJJ utility?
And what is "Active Off Mode = Supported"?
If suspend mode is not supported, which means after openning up the notebk again from standby, it will have the blank screen? Or it just revert back to 800x480 (default)?
Thanks in advance ![]()

@jlekssp
Scaling = no scrolling required
No Scaling = scrolling required
Scaling means that the original size is scaled down. meaning fitting a 600 height screen into the native 480 height of the eeepc.
As to the 2nd question, I would suggest you try it and if it is not to your liking, can always revert back to the original Intel drivers.

I have installed lazertags modified Intel driver, but apparently I lost the ability to rotate the screen - can anything be done about this?

I hope to see the 1000 x 800 resolution soon! Would be great if that is possible!
Keep on the good work!

HI all Just got my eeepc & have been reading all the interesting stuff here ![]()
Is there a way to just set my eee to stay 800 600 32 with scaling all the time(Ie no other options just that!) I have the R2H driver & eeepc_utility running but have to manually change the res on start up (it worked fine at first?) I goto 800 480 then back to 800 600 then its fine I've tried all options now.
Thanks & happy eeeing
