I live right by the Zagg Inc. ( http://www.invisibleshield.com ) home office. I had them design a standard shield for my 4GB Surf today.
It looks good, I think. It covers the top, wrist rest, and touch pad.
Cons:
1 - There are some microbubbles due to the rough texture of the case.
2 - I had to increase the sensitivity of the touchpad a bit.
Pros:
1 - I can scratch the **** out of the covered areas and it doesn't matter.
The benefits definitely outweigh the cost, in my opinion. I've shielded every hand held device I have ever owned (Palm Treo 650, AT&T Tilt, iPod, etc), and have always been happy I have done so. I didn't see why the eee should be any different.
Anyway, I can provide more pics if anyone wants them.

Thanks. I am not sure what they are going to be charging, actually. Mine was the first eee they had actually put their hands on, so they gave me a freebie for letting them use it as a design template.
I would suspect they will run about $30, or something, now that the custom design is in place. Full 15.4" laptop standard shield sets are around $40, it seems.
They have pretty good customer service, if you wanted to ask them.

They just opened up a cart at my local mall, I was going to have my iPhone done but did not have time. It would be great to get one for my 4G.

Is the shield covering the ASUS logo as well?

My suggestion to anyone getting this is to NOT apply the trackpad shield. It is kinda bugging me after a few days use how "non-slick" it has become with the shield on. The sensitivity issue has also become a point of interest. The tap function doesn't seem to want to work consistently. I think I may take it down to the shop and have them remove the shield on trackpad, if I don't somehow get used to this...

It is, yes. There is some air trapped in there, but it doesn't seem like the bubbles want to move outward. I was concerned about it for a minute, but am quite happy with the way they did that part.

I've got a standard body shield on my main Compaq laptop. They do make great shields, and the material is good, but somehow I find it hard to justify the "$40 + shipping" I paid for a sheet of plastic. Also, I got the shield only because my laptop's body is glossy, so scratches form on it without protection. But, I don't think my Eee needs this level of protection because this type of plastic won't scratch very easily, and I already have a free carrying sleeve that came with the Eee.

anyone else got this done to their eee? i'd like more opinions, i have used invisibleshield before, it's very effective and protects the object, but it's also quite expensive, but i found one on walmart for only 16.88.
