I installed eSpeak to my Eee-PC by using "deb ftp://ftp.de.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free" in my sources.list.
apt-get install espeak (remember you need to be root!)
The installation runs perfect with Xandros. After the installation you can try espeak with:
espeak 'hello, my name ist eee pc!'
The espeak even talks German: espeak -v de 'ich liebe das oktoberfest! bier und weisswurst sind spitze!'
You can see more commands and more languages here:
http://espeak.sourceforge.net/
I will record a movie later in the evening... ![]()

Like greenhughes.com wrote:
"It's fun to hear your computer talk, and this technology has many uses, not just in the world of accessibility, but to turn written information into audio which can be consumed on the move."
