Where did you find these ?
I use official Intel 142550 and I have the scrolling issue when resolution is set to 800x600 or 1024x768.
What are the best drivers to use EEEPC_RESV1 ?
Thank you.

To All Friends,
EEEPC RES V1 have both command mode.
and GUI mode.
In GUI Mode, It's always enable downscaling. If you need scrolling windows for higher resolution. Please use command only.
Command Mode pattern help:
eeepc_RESV1.exe enablescaling width height colorbit.
EX1:"eeepc_RESV1.exe 1 800 600 32" --Enabled scaling and 800x600x32bits.
EX1" "EEEPC+RESV1.exe 0 1280 1024 16" disabled scaling and 1280x1024x16bits.
It's more flexable.
I will realse a new version after someone lane me the AUSU R2H to traced how to enable 1024x600.
I replaced my EEEPC Bios vga segment with R2H BIOS vga segment. But i can not enable 1024x600. 1/28 my friend will lane me R2H. And i need one week time for trace.
the new version feature:
1.Support 1024x600
2.Check application running.and command mode will not more then twince.
3.icon right click menu add 16 bit's color setting.
4.add external display support scaling .
5.the command mode cound support setting resoluion for external Display.
Notes. The best driver for eeepc_res is R2H Vga Driver and Samsung Q1 VGA Dirver or 7209 UMPC VGA Driver.
To sumozebra ,
Thanks, a lot.

What about 640x480?
I think this should definitely be available (without a 'vga dummy' and clone/scrolling mode) before adding more custom resolutions.
alot of apps and games may run fine in 800x480/800x600 mode, but wont start without having the initial 640x480 resolution for their opening menu.
This is the only thing keeping me from switching permanently to your utility from my IEGD drivers (not really much different from LazerTag's results)
If I could get hibernate to work right with it I would stop worrying about it, but standby won't wake up correctly, and my screen resolution cannot be changed after coming back from hibernation (I get a black screen).
one day (soon I hope) there will be a solution that will offer all in one package.
I want to thank everyone who is involved in figuring it out for everyone.
Keep up the good work!

Do you know how to get rid of the PersistWndName "End Program" dialog popping up when you shutdown or reboot.

KKJ!! Great to hear you are working on this again, this is by far the best solution I've seen yet and I can't wait to see 1024x600 scaled on the screen!! I've been pulling my hair out trying to make the screen 1000x600 using powerstrip.
Isn't 1000x600 the perfect proportion for the screen though? Or are you going with 1024x600 because the vga bios expressly forbids 1000x600?
In any event, I can't wait for the next version!

Check here

I have a question, you have noted these drivers are best for your utility

I've been looking at the various differences between using them and using the included Asus driver or the latest Intel version and I can't tell a direct difference off hand in visual quality. Is there something specific you have noted about those three in comparison?
Anyway great news indeed to hear your still working on your utility. The community I'm sure thanks you. ![]()

Dear kkjj,
I read your post in mobile01....
I would like to thank you for your afford on this program.
It is just fantastic. Your program and "eeectl" are two "must install" programs for EeePC.
We are all looking forward to your updates.

Thanks KKJJ and LAzertag for you work on the screen resolution. I despertatley needed 800*600 without scrolling for one application and following this thread managed to achieve it. Took me some time to realise that I needed to use the modified VGA driver and this application. Can this be simplified for others with an entry in the Wiki?? Had I not needed it so desperately I would have given up. Resume still gives me problems with te application I need to use - is this a known probelm at the moment??
Many thanks.

@Deckard:
I just followed LazerTag's ling (in his signature), logged in as directed, browsed to the Intel directory, and downloaded the file "win2k_xp142550_MODDED_INF.zip".
Unzip and there it was. As for the preferred driver, I dunno, but LazerTag asked about that also in post 183.
As for still scrolling after selecting 800x600 through jjkk's utility; I found that if I switch to 800x480 and then back to 800x600 (all through eeepc_res) it would not scroll. Ultimately, I make sure there is a check in the box Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Monitor > "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display"
I hope this makes sense and works for you as well.

Hey very nice work!! Quick question, im using LTs drivers and your EEEPC Res utility v1.0 and it works great but if i have it set to the default 800x480 and reboot my machine it defaults to 1024x768. How can I make the default 800x480 on startup?

I also find the page giving 404 error...

Thank you. Found it now.
The point is that I've installed Intel 142550 drivers (not modded ones), just as noticed in readme.txt.
If I switch to 800x600, I need to scroll. Is it normal ? Seems so.
I surely missed something because I don't find the procedure really straight-forward ...

Deckard - the reason you need to use the modified drivers in LazerTags link, is the standard Intel Drivers don't support the scaling that KKJJ's tool uses. Hence you'll get the scrolling...!
Grab LazerTags modified version and install them. You'll likely need to reboot.
Next make sure you've been into the Display Properties, Settings Tab, clicked the Advanced button, gone to the Monitor tab, and Unchecked the box marked 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display' *gasps for breath*
Then try the Res changer again. That should get you working. Hope this helps!

Thanks KKJJ. I got this to work in conjunction with LT's latest driver (no scrolling). Here's how I did it:
1) Download LT's latest drivers. Run setup.exe. Reboot.
2) Setup screen to display 1280x1024. Go to Device Manager>hardware and expand 'Monitor'. Select 'Update Driver'. Select 'Advanced' option and click next. Select the 'Don't Search' option and click next again. You will need to untick the box that says 'Show compatible hardware' and you can then select the Digital Flat Panel (1280x1024). You need to do this for all monitors listed.
3) Run JJKK's .exe file. The options should work WITHOUT the need to scroll. If you want the .exe to work when it startup, put it in the Startup folder in: C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Really happy with this. Props to JJKK and LT for their hard work!

thanks, but kkjj deserves all the props folks. I'm just lending a hand where and when I can.

hello great job for both of you!!! at this point is there a trick giving the ability to use 1000x600 (same 5:3 ratio with 800x480) resolution on our beloved technological miracle?
I can use 800x600 with kkjj's utility but not 1024x600... I do use the supported driver...

Hi! First of all congratulations both kkjj and LT for great work. Excelent. I use this forum, and cause of you guys i must register here and talk to you.
Too all the happy owner os asus EEE this is a must cause enable to surf the web at 800 x 600 without scrooling. EXCELENT.
But i have some problems.
I installed the modified intel drivers and run the kkjj program, and no problems, i can make 800 x 600 without scrool, but everytime when i restart computer, it comes with 800 x 600 with scrooling, and i must put 800x480 and then 800x600 with kkjj program to be back to normal. I think more users have these problem.
If anyone knows a way to put in config or startup automaticly when windows starts the resolution 800 x 600 without scrool, it will be a good help.
Another comment was if we can put de kkjj program utility automaticly in tray when we open windows, can anyone teah how to do this?
And a very simple question, how i make the command mode in this kkjj program? I try to create a shourtcout with the options but says invalid name, and in startup dont work.
Thanks again for your time, you are helping all the users of these great laptop.
Best regards from Portugal:)

kkjj - Thanks for this program, works great. If there is a way to add parameters to my startup shortcut please let me know. I have your program set to run at startup but I'd like to set the screen resolution for example:
'EEEPC_RES.exe 800x600'
to start the display at 800x600.
Is this possible? Also, can you make minamize to systray?
X
thats what i am talking about. cant figure it out ...
When i installed windows xp sp2 nlite and in startup with original asus drivers from dvd in the welcome window it is 800 x 600 with scrool, then after the welcome image it switchs automaticly to 800 x 480. With the standart drivers. and then ready to work in win.
Now that im using the modified drivers, it goes on startup with 800 x 600 with scrooling. and if i want without scrooling, i must use kkjj utility change do 800 x 480 and then to 800 x 600 to be without scrooling.
I dont understand this.
If someone can help, it will be good. Just one thing, i think only resolution good for working in asus eee is 800 x 600, more will be unreadble or am i wrong? just if we want to connect to a tv to see a divx thats will be good to have more resolution, but i didnt try it yet, cause i just have old tvs with scart input, and these have vga outuput, no tv output... its complicated. thanks

I managed to get this working sometimes at startup, but not always.
Using file explorer I created a shortcut to the excellent eee utility from kkjj, simply right click in an open space and select new --> shortcut, then browse to the .exe
I then right click on the shortcut and add into the target field the extra parameters " 1 800 600 32" on the end.
Finally drag and drop this shortcut into your start menu --> startup folder and hey presto, at startup the utility is run automatically.
Problem is for me, it doesn't work on every startup - so maybe I have made a mistake.
Hope that helps.

Suggest:
RUN->Regedit.exe->local machine(or Current User )\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Run ->(right click ) Add String ->
EEEPC_RES -> double click on EEEPC_res -> add EEEPC_resv1.exe path 1 800 600 32.
My setting: EEEPC_RES REG_SZ "D:\Program files\EEEPC RES V1.0\EEEPC_RESV1.exe 1 800 600 32"
my EEEPC_RESV1.exe put in d:\Program files\EEEPC RES V1.0\
It's works.
Please Try it. and i don't suggest using shortcout to run the application with parameter.

To ptmaluko,
The reason is intel driver is too stupid. The resolution is the same from before change to after change. The driver doesn't work.
you can try my suggest. because the default resolution of yours is 800x600. i suggest that you can change to 800x400 manually.
and set the application run by registry.
i think it's a better way.
