aweomeness, without these i couldnt play AOE or scale apps decently ![]()
on a side note is there any real difference in the asus and intel driver other than company branding? i.e. one doesnt scale better than the other etc

Quick question. I'm sure this has been covered, but I've lost track of what does what at this point.
Will the modified ASUS driver utilize downscaling without using kkjj's res utility?
Either way, thanks so much for how much time you've been putting into this. It really makes for some awesome options for we eee gamers and media lovers.

I've not noticed any difference at all. Been using the Asus version all day now just for testing purposes and it works and reacts just like the latest Intel version does. I admit I have not combed over all the files from each package to look for differences either though.

thanks. I must point out the answer to your question is just above in my first post. I should note though that the IEGD build has never been tested with kkjj's EEEPC_RES util. I have no clue if it will work or not in any way.

Go Team Video!
Thanks LT for helping to keep the great work both you and kkjj have done alive and also for trying to simplify the 2 different ways of doing it into one simple thread / release.
kkjj If you are reading this, Please keep up the great work.

that is great to hear kkjj. I'll keep an eye out for an R2H however I've never been all that great with deals, much less ones outside the US, hehe. Just a country boy myself. ![]()

They are Windows XP drivers.
I've not looked into scaling features yet for the default OS, but do plan to at some point soon. I need to image my SDD first before putting Xandros back on.

Wow, great job LT and KKJJ! I used LT's modified asus drivers and KKJJ's latest version of his res app and things are working great. 1024 x 768 I haven't gotten to work yet, but mainly because I have no real use for it so I haven't played around and looked for a good solution.
Keep up the great work, guys. I'm definitely available for any testing that needs to be done.

Hey LT, did you get my PM about what intel said to add into the inf?

sorry for my noobness but would i use these drivers for say higher res on external monitor if so what is the max? (i have dell 2407-native 1920*1200)
thanks

what are the differences between using the Intel and the Asus drivers?
are the display issues with coming out of standby resolved at this point?

Soltakr - You wouldn't need these to get the higher resolutions on external monitors. Your eee handles external monitors just fine using stock drivers. I will add, though, that so far I've had no problems using external monitors with Laser Tag's modified ASUS driver.
If you use one of the new drivers that LazerTag put up for either ASUS or Intel (not IEGD), then you won't have a problem with sleep. Make sure you use kkjj's utility as well, as it allows you to use unconventional resolution control.
citivolus - Intel's drivers are generic for the video chipset, while the ASUS ones are basically catered more towards usage with the EEE and its LCD monitor, from what I understand.

Maybe I'm just clueless here (definitely possible) but the only link I see in your post is the big "I accept the responsibility etc" one and that just seems to link to this same thread in a new window. What am I missing here that is preventing me from finding your FTP server?

Yes, my sig leads back to the first post in this thread. See the link in that post.

I enjoy the resolution, but the fonts are now awkward and hard to read. Is there a possibility to make resolutions that are sized the same ratio as 800x480?

Not yet, but it's being worked on by LazerTag and kkjj. You should follow this thread for information:

If your using the IEGD driver build then you will still have issues.
Use the Intel or Asus modified driver along with kkjj's EEEPC_RES utility for scaling.

All I really want is a scalling driver with 640x480 which supports hibernate/standby.
is this really that impossible? =/
I have also played with IEGD for hours and cannot get standby or hibernate to work right.
hibernate ALMOST works, but not quite...

I do not foresee Standby, Hibernate, or monitor shut-off working with the IEGD driver any time in the near future. I believe these issues lie with the timing of the panel itself in conjunction with IEGD (there's a location in IEGD to place this info, but I can't seem to find the timings from the manufacturer).
If we could get this information it may well be fixable?
So sadly at this point, Yes, it is too hard to have scaling AND proper 640x480 (16 and 32 bit) in one driver for now.
Now that said, the modded INF drivers (Asus or Intel) or the R2H version drivers plus EEEPC_RES are SWEET for scaling. Use those drivers in conjuction with a "vga dummy" adapter gives the clone mode ability need to use the proper 640x480 (just like IEGD has, but without the failings).
And it is really easy to make those adapters. I spent $5 bucks in parts at Radio Shack and without having to solder at all (electrical tape used) made a fine working adapter. I even bought the little plastic D-sub case for the connector so it looked factory made. the only issue I had with the adapter I made was it's size, about the length of a flash stick and the width of the port. I have since changed to one made by a good friend
which has an extremely low profile and fits very snug.

I use your ASUS modified driver, and screen is black after a resume, elseif i am in 800x480
Very strange ![]()
After the installation of this driver (ASUS), i got scrolling, so I use the intel software in order to go to the "single mode".
