Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

Hmmm, found that COD1 struggled a bit on my stock machine. Mind you, I'm using the R2H drivers @ the mo...

I've had Cheryl Cole and thought it was a bit rubbish

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

UFO Afterlight loads the intro movie and menu fine,
But throws up this error when you try to start a game.

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/3438/ufoafterrlightdk7.png

Im using ASUS supplied CD Drivers, 1gig ram and EEECLOCK

Resolution was out when viewed in fullscreen, game can be run in window, but it was insanely small and hard to read.
Would custom drivers have any effect?

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

Request: Would anybody be so kind to check if any of the THIEF series games runs on the eee? I would be most delighted if THIEF2 would run and this would also be the only reason for me to install XP on a memory card...
Thanks in advance...

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

Request: House of the Dead, either 1,2 or 3.

I personally have number 1 and love it but being an older game i'm not sure how it will run. But i would gather it would run famously being older and not needing a lot of extra stuff.

So i hope someone has it to try, and thanks if you do and can get it to work.

Blood 2 Runs up to the menu, The menu is there but nothing is displayed save for a red version number in the bottom left corner. You can still randomly hit the menu options and i was able to start a new game. Graphics and game ran fine after that.

Anachronox runs in a Window,

Was playing around but couldn't quite get it working full screen.
Installed up to 1.02.45 and ran as normal.

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy works good. A little bit of lag at some times. Go to Video Options and set Widescreen to 16:9 and it will fit correctly.

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

I have Championship Manager 01/02 (the best version!) running on my eee. It works with the stock drivers if you can cope with having to scroll up and down (it has to run in 800x600), or you can use kkjj's application to fit it all on the screen (http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=9681)

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

Just tested SimCity 4 (+Addon)

800x600 works out of the box, 800x480 with a little modification to the shortcut.
Still in my opinion it's not playable, you need 600px to see all the menu items. And that up'n'down scrolling is more than annoying.

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

A few games I NEED to know if they work, they all should.

Nerf: Arena Blast (Based off of unreal engine, its an FPS)
Descent Series: most bad **** series ever TBH.
Heroes of Might and Magic series

edit: nerf support 800x480 ingame, so it should be easy.

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

Stronghold works at 800x600 scrolling, I haven't worked out a way to make it 800x480 yet.
It works with 630mhz cpu & 512mb ram, but it is slightly better with 900mhz & 2gb ram.
I say slightly, because it runs so well at the stock settings.

Re: The 'Does this game work in Windows' Thread

Unreal 1 + Expansion works not a problem, The unreal engine and its games seem to work well on the eeepc
Unreal 2 works but suffers some framerate issues when the action gets heated. I played until i got the shotgun and needed to escourt marines. The level had rain and friend+foe running around onscreen, played kinda slow
