Some company is making touchscreen DIY suits for EEE

According to a thread (in Traditional Chinese) on mobile01.com:
http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php … p;t=492027
A Taiwanese company is making touchscreen DIY suits for EEE. The company is planning to launch the suits around the Chinese new year (early to mid February) this year.

The features are:
1. Easy to mod. Only need a few steps.
2. Specially made for EEE. No soldering is needed. Don't need to change the wiring of the webcam. Also good for the Surf version.
3. Support bluetooth and GPS
4. Support XP, Vista and Linux
5. Use 5-wire control. It's more durable than 4-wire touch screens, but also more expensive.

Re: Some company is making touchscreen DIY suits for EEE

If theres no soldering, I can only imagine it will use the extra pci-e usb connections, or it will pigy back on existing usb connections.

Be interesting to see what method they use.

agreed, I've been tossing this idea around for a while - if there's a no-solder solution (that doesn't use one of the external usb ports) I'm most likely in, dependant only on price.

Man I might even do the touchscreen stuff if no soldering is required.  I dont want to destroy my machine with shoddy soldering.

GOOD FIND!

just to add. looks like it's a hijack webcam connector to a hub and hence supports other devices. its very similar to some of the ideas that other eeeusers has been tossing with.

Re: Some company is making touchscreen DIY suits for EEE

Sweet, I've been waiting for something like this since I am computer modification handicapped. I really want a touch screen panel on my eee.

I'm so used to working off of a PDA where you can touch anywhere on the screen but I keep reaching out to touch the screen on my eee to edit a mistake in Open Office. I've gotten weird looks from people in my class wondering what I'm doing. lol.

Re: Some company is making touchscreen DIY suits for EEE

Well according to the OP:
2. Specially made for EEE. No soldering is needed. Don't need to change the wiring of the webcam

So I take that to mean its not 'hijacking' the webcam connection

Webcam wireharness/connectors available. PM for info.

Re: Some company is making touchscreen DIY suits for EEE

Chinese? Easy peasy!

Before changed has touched controls the firefly secretly on very many friends to ask how I did change http://attach2.mobile01.com/image/smile/smile038.gif
But outside sells wrap nearly all must weld, is not very convenient

After afterwards I bought touch control a board set of merchant to listen to my opinion
The merchant decided special-purpose develops EeePC to touch controls reequipment set of, but because my not convenient disclosure too many details (opposite shore clone regiment very is fearful) in the development

But now already had to measure has produced, therefore first disclosed the good news with everybody
Estimated about agricultural all previous years can go on the market, if I attained a set of certain first time with everybody share

At present known news

1. The easy attire, some several simple steps, to be only doing according to the instruction booklet may complete

2.EPC completely comes in handy, completely does not have to weld, does not change to webcam (the surf version also may use)

3. In may support constructs the blue bud, GPS....

4. Supports XP, Vista, Linux

5. Uses five types to touch controls, compared to four types more durable, but also is expensive 1. (Y to pat mostly is four types) the merchant said even if in touches controls the kneading board surface to have the damage in the situation, also can operate normally.

The detailed price I also did not know front that, went on the market only then can announce (had known could not say Arab League had advertisement suspicion http://attach2.mobile01.com/image/smile/smile044.gif)
Originally has wants to say manages the association to purchase in advance, but 01 stipulations cannot have the group to buy the activity
But I have with the merchant said must put to 01 on-line the shopping sells, moreover must calculate 01 friends are cheap 1. (everybody to be able like this together the relaxed ruined family! ! http://attach2.mobile01.com/image/smile/smile035.gif)

Therefore has the friend or the blue bud which the plan changes touches controls, GPS slightly endures patiently again, like this did not need to move to welds
Otherwise with my dissimilarity, at sixes and sevens which changes http://attach2.mobile01.com/image/smile/smile044.gif

Endures patiently the friend on,01 to have several masters to be allowed to ask them to help http://attach2.mobile01.com/image/smile/smile043.gif

PS: Again do not ask me to change, because I welded the skill was not good http://attach2.mobile01.com/image/smile/smile038.gif

Ermmm... right!

Re: Some company is making touchscreen DIY suits for EEE

Is there enough power going to the webcam to power so many devices? Or is there some other available connector (that exists in all models) to draw power from?
