lightening fast boot time

boy nlighted xp installs really fly. or maybe the eee is fast in general. every time i boot up i see in my head rick moranis from spaceballs screaming "ludicris speed...GO!"

i think its like 12 seconds to my desktop from a ice cold boot. none of my other computers can touch that.

does anyone know if shutting the camera off in the bios affect boot times also or know other ways to shorten boot time?

Re: lightening fast boot time

What's your install size? That's fast even for an eee.

Re: lightening fast boot time

under 600 mb with sp2. only drivers are eee drivers. no other drivers installed. usb floppy wouldnt even install.

biggest slowdown is startup programs. firewall alone adds 4- 5 seconds.

Re: lightening fast boot time

My NLited XP Pro SP2 boots in 15 seconds, from the time I press the ON button to when I can surf the 'net.  That's including my wireless connecting !!

My NLited XP is 841mb installed.  I, too, removed a TON of Windows bloatware.

I have my webcam disabled in the BIOS, because I'll never use it; why have it drag down my battery.

Re: lightening fast boot time

I did a regular install and my boottime is like 20 seconds.  Not bad for a Celeron at 630 mhz.  (Waiting for stable bios so I can bump it to 900mhz)

Wow, this is really fast for a full xp install.. I can only get as fast as 35 sec from button press to log in screen then another 15-20 to load everything....

Never put off 'til tomorrow what you can do today...

Even the 0401 BIOS can hit 900MHz easy. Just use eeeclock: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=8808
