Nope - tried the first beta on a desktop, didn't like the bookmark handling (seemed counter intuitive to me) so I removed it.
Thanks for the heads up on the mini theme though.
edit: Is this any use to you?

Oh definitely I'm using Firefox 3, I can't believe anyone would really want to use Firefox 2 on the eeePC! The full page scaling is almost a necessity for when web pages are wider than the screen by default.

Isn't Firefox Beta 3 only in test mode now? When I checked it out it says add-ons may not work. Sure enough, when I installed it on my regular laptop, it turned off all of my add-ons. Does it really make a difference on the Eee for viewing?
Thank you,
Kirby

Once again, you can edit add-ons to work on firefox 3. To do so:
1. Instead of attempting to install the .xpi file, save it to the desktop.
2. Rename the .xpi extension to .zip.
3. Extract the install.rdf to your desktop, and open it with a text editor.
4. Change the value of "maxversion". I suggest 4.0.0.0 <_<. Save.
5. Put the edited install.rdf back into the zip, _overwriting the old one_
6. Rename the .zip back to .xpi.
7. Drag and drop the .xpi into Firefox.
Most extensions, aside from the more complicated ones, work this way. I have tested this method on the following:
Downloadhelper
Firebug
Firesomething
ieTab
Does not work on the following:
FireFTP (grab the beta from the forums instead). If you try to force-install this it's guaranteed to crash the browser on first load, then not work at all on subsequent tries.
These extensions have 3.0 support already:
Flashgot
FoxyProxy
Adblock Plus
3.0b2 is tons more stable and less memory hungry than 2.0 release, which is quite a feat if you ask me, especially on WinDOS. Switch IMMEDIATELY. You won't regret it.
Oh, and it passes ACID2.

Certainly I'm a noob, but how do you install this tarball? I can't find any configure or install scripts in it.

I just tap F11 once I get the browse to the site I want to be on... plus I added the 'minimize to tray' add-on.

If you want to keep FF2, you can install FF3b2 from PortableApps into another directory so it won't overwrite your FF2 install. It works great.

I am trying it out on my regular laptop. When you say, "Instead of attempting to install the .xpi file, save it to the desktop." Where is the .xpi file? I'm not sure where to locate it to change it to .zip.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kirby

Sadly, I couldn't get the extensions to work with the suggested instructions. I'm sure it's my error somewhere. When I did what I thought I was to do, Firefox would open, but then freeze. Where it says to open the rdf file with a text editor, I used Word 2003. Every spot where it said maxversion I changed it to 4.0.0.0. I think this might be where I messed up?
Thank you,

ROT is, you do not use Word to edit text files - this word processor inserts formatting symbols which you can't see. Always edit full text files, XML files and HTML files with a text editor, not a word processor.

I have FF3 beta 2 installed on my eee, but I can't seem to figure out how to use the pagezoom feature. Can anyone help with this please?

I think I did something WORNG.
I installed from the FF3 tarball that was released earlier this week.
Now, Firefox will not run at all - wants a newer GTK - but I cannot find a valid distro that I can convince my box to find. I can't even find GTK on my system, none of the packages seems to be a GTK.
Complicate this with the "at work, I can only access internet if I authenticate with the guest system first, and that requires a browser that works."
So ... anyone dealt with this yet? I'm guessing I need to find another repository somewhere and add it to the list.

You can actually edit with Word safely, but you have to save it in text mode, or as the Ultimate Chicken says, it will insert "other stuff" in front.
