Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

If I am not mistaken, Asus mistaken 1005ha and 1101ha in same catagory.
(share same user manual)

Have you try 1101ha ACPI driver? It appears to be newer?
Again, just a guess.

Just tried that one still same **** error.

Might just stay with XP until asus gets some damn drivers for 7 going.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

Just updated - didn't notice anything different, just like all previous updates.  (I'm running XP).  Will post back if I notice any change in battery performance.

Just updated but not sure how it can get any better. I am already averaging 8-10 hours depending on what I am using it for.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

before the update my battery percentage when fully charged always sat between 97%-99% never 100%... after the update it went back to 100%. not sure if its fully fixed yet though. one thing i noticed was before the update my battery life never showed more than 6 hours as soon as i unplug my adapter.. i have the 1005ha-v version. i thought 6 was good enough. after the update it says i have about 8 hours. if the numbers aren't fake, im a happy camper.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

Would a Linux user have the same ACPI problems as Win7 users do with the new BIOS versions? I do like better battery life, but not if I have to fight the OS for hours before I can use it.

IIABDFI (If It Ain't Broke...)

Unless one is experiencing issues that are directly traceable back to BIOS and you know the update will fix it, I really don't see the value in screwing around with it.

But maybe that's just me?

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

An advice for those new to the forum, who reach this thread from search results,
-Do not update your bios to the most recent one if you are trying out Windows 7, there are issues with the acpi driver which make it too much of a hassle to even try at this point of time.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

Okay, have been using the new bios update pretty much since it came out, and ...... can't really tell any difference.  I was getting crazy battery life before the update, and nothing has changed afterwards.  I guess it might give me few more minutes, but I really haven't noticed any significant improvement.

Notably, I haven't noticed and negatives from the bios update either.  I'll run the computer through a few more cycles, and will report back.

** EDIT **

After going through a few more cycles, I would agree that it has increased my battery life.  I haven't done any formal testing, but my overall impression is positive.  If you're running XP, I see no reason not to update.

I agree. I haven't done any rigorous testing, but the improvement of the battery seems to come from the accuracy of the power meter.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

I did this update and I no longer have wireless on EEEbuntu linux.  May be I should wait for a patch for this to get it working.

XP however is giving more time approx 35 minutes more than what it was earlier - I didn't do any accurate timing though.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

If there are no problems then I might just update this bios.  I know the one before it had problems so I have waited.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

the problems only seem to be present when using an OS other then windows xp, if you have no plans of upgrading in the near future then it should be safe to update the BIOS.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

I'm using a stock XP for now.
And I've to admit that it really improves battery life on my one. Really.
I'm browsing the net for something about 5h or more. And I've got still 60% of the battery.
Of course the camera and the bluetooth module are of and I've got power saving mode in SHE. Brightnes 1/3.

So really. That's a nice one if you use XP wink
10hours of nonstop working with wifi?
It is possible in my one I think smile

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

I had the 08-BIOSversion when I installed win7, and by that my touchpad didn't work. When I finally found a way to update to the new BIOS, my touchpad started working, so for me this BIOS is all positive. But my ACPI still don't work... damn painful!

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

I am amazed at how terrible the BIOS updates are and the problems they continually cause. I am an update freak and even though many BIOS updates are not MAJOR improvements, I still want them. BUT, not at this rate. I will keep my stock BIOS and forget about an update until it is stable no matter the OS.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

For now I disabled all the ACPI stuff from startup so I don't get that annoying error.  I guess if I don't downgrade I can wait for a new ACPI provided by Asus.

Re: new 1005ha 0905 bios

you can downgrade by using the engineering edition of afudos from a bootable USB drive, i dont have a direct link for it but a google search lead me to a site where it was available for download.

Most would agree with you (IIABDFI), but some of us lean a little more towards IIABMIGF  (If It Ain´t Broken Make It Go Faster!)
