webcam comparison of 1.3 vs .3

So I currently have a 1005ha-p, but I'm in the market for a pink (for the lady) 1005ha

Unless anyone has news of a pink coming to the 1005ha-p???????? I already asked before smile

So i was wondering if anyone with a 1005ha-B or V can post a picture taken from the webcam

From my 1005ha-P
random mess in my room

trophy I had
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y58/xxraffyxx/Picture002.jpg

When just viewing the webcam the quality is pretty good, but once I snap the picture it makes everything dark. (i haven't updated the webcam drivers)

Re: webcam comparison of 1.3 vs .3

so again I'm trying to find a pink 1005ha and I found this

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/18 … v_XSG10001

It shows a pink 1005ha
running atom 270
web cam 1.3 m

BUT it doesn't list the exact model number. I even called up target and spoke to two different people and they dont know what exact 1005ha it is.

can anyone help me figure this out.

Re: webcam comparison of 1.3 vs .3

It has the N270 so it is a 1005HA-V. Good price since ASUS dropped the MSRP from $349.99 to S329.99 in August and Target online has it for $299.99.

yeah, but it shows that it was the 1.3 mp webcam.

Also it could be the 1005ha-B (3 hour battery)

You might be right. www.bestbuy.com is offering the 1005HA-B in all four colors(black, blue, white, pink) and Target is certainly large enough for ASUS to do a specific offering for them, perhaps the model 1005HA-T or if the 1005HA-B is no longer exclusive to Best Buy and Target now offers the "B".

The exclusive to giant retailers does not show up on their main products line as you can see from the current and next Eee PC offerings in the two jpgs below.

The ha-b is a bestbuy specific model and wouldn't be carried at Target.

Re: webcam comparison of 1.3 vs .3

so doing more research. I believe this is the best buy version (or VERY similar)

So let me get this straight.  talking just about the webcam
1005HA-P  = 1.3 mp webcam     $380
1005HA-V  = 0.3 mp webcam     $320
1005HA-B  = 1.3 mp webcam     $300

am I missing something? I don't get the logic behind it.

anyone with a 1005ha-v can you please post some pictures, I want to see how the webcam is.

jazzdoc - where did u get those jpegs from?
a new 1005 is soon coming?
do you know if they'll stop selling the 1000HE (they've already stopped marketing it here due to the official importer's decision)

Thanks!

Re: webcam comparison of 1.3 vs .3

Asus is keeping the 1000HE in it's line up for the next year at least, most new models won't be showing up until either end of year or during next year because of delays with Windows 7 (out Oct 22) and the new Pineview N450 Atom processor (which basically merges the GPU into the CPU but only gives you the lousy GMA500 in exchange for really improved battery life and lower costs).

For the 1005HA, only the Black and Blue models are the high end.  The rest are the lower end, with pink being the V type, course since they are the same model line you could wait till spare parts start showing up and just mod swap out your casing.  Or just replace the 0.3 with a 1.3 camera module, just make sure it faces the same direction.

I know for the 900A for example the 0.3 module connector faces left but on the 901's 1.3 module it faces right.  So either get the right facing module or get extra long connector.

Webcams work off USB so they're plug and play as long as you can load the right drivers. . . though webcam resolution in general isn't great but 0.3 is noticeably less than 1.3... sad really since most cellphones can do 3.2 now. . .

It's from ASUS. I am in the industry.

The 1000HE was going to be an existing product for a while longer however, I heard on Friday that it's been designated end of life.

The current 1005HA-P will be upgraded to a 250 HDD and Win7 Starter, when Win 7 is officially launched and available for retail (Oct 22).
The 1005HA-V will remain the same through the end of the year.
The 1005HA-M  will be launched with Win7 Starter, when Win 7 is officially launched and available for retail (Oct 22).
The 1005HA-E has just been launched.

Note the jpgs posted are for the US market.

Re: webcam comparison of 1.3 vs .3

Too bad, 1000HE is still the best all around Eee PC for the 10" series but if the stock holds out like the 9" models have then it might still be another year before it really becomes really hard to find. . . Hope Asus can fix the GMA500 drivers though otherwise the N450 may still be a dud despite it's other benefits. . .

thanks but that post doesn't say what's gonna happen to the current 1005HA-P - having the same model name with different HD sizes is gonna be pretty confusing...

If you are going to Uni, you best learn how to read charts; gantt/roadmaps smile

Look at the roadmap in post #5. You see the green arrow for the current 1005HA-P ends at the end of October.
An updated 1005HA-P (yellow bar) will be introduced in October, after October 22nd but that yellow bar  should have been more to the right
So the updated 1005HA-P will have the same MSRP of $399.99 as the current configuration. Remaining stock of the current 1005HA-P with retailers will be discounted more than currently priced to move that stock out so they can start selling the updated 1005HA-P with a bigger HDD and Win 7.

I can't for the life of me find the 1.3M webcam part from the 1005ha.  I tried asusparts.eu , but that website is extremely confusing to navigate around.

How would I check to see if the 1.3 mp is the same camera in older eeepc? I took a look at my 1000ha-P webcam and it looks like the webcam had the dual microphones integrated into it.

I'm getting the 1005ha-v soon, and I would like to put in the 1.3 webcam into it ASAP! HELP! because I'm going to give it to someone else

is the form factor of the new 1005ha-p going to change at all or is it just the OS upgrade and larger HDD?

Re: webcam comparison of 1.3 vs .3

This is making my life difficult. I plan on picking up a 1005HA-P next week for school. Unfortunately I'm teased by the new 1005HA-P coming out at the end of October. With almost two months until the new 1005HA-P's release, I can't just wait for it to come out.

I too am interested in how different the new 1005HA-P will be when it's released in October. I can install Win7 myself, and although the bigger hard drive is nice, I plan to use an external for most of my media and such anyway, so it's not a game breaking difference. If someone could confirm whether or not these are the only two differences, that would be amazing.

Here you go, 1005ha-V. 0.3mp webcam is adequate for skype.

In my mind the only difference was the HDD...and it's a netbook....I don't need 250gb of storage.  Regarding the OS.....Windows 7 Starter is so limited I was going to reformat with Windows 7 Pro anyway.

So basically it comes down to how long do you want to wait for a larger HDD?  I went ahead and ordered my 1005HA-P
