I bet the code just checks to see if the configuration area states you have 2GB installed and displays the option appropriatly and this value is updated by a different code check. What would be interesting is whether the BIOS is showing 2GB at the same time as the overclock option is available.
As far as certain stick, unless they have hard coded specific brands/specifications into the check routine then all 800 sticks should be able be able to run at the speeds required for 533 and potentially produce less heat. It's very rare that I've had issues underlocking memory and if I do it's usually been very cheap sticks which wouldn't even run at their rated speed. This is one of the reasons I go for good branded memory as you never know what ylou are going to get with no-brand junk.

have anyone tried to run a 2GB at 533MHz on the 1101ha? Is there a setting in BIOS to set the freq for the memory?

no BIOS options unless anyone can find an 'advanced mode'

Hi,
Today I received Crucial module model CT25664AC800.M16FG and OC still not work but I have a bad new, even speedstep doesn't work CPU is steady at 1333 multiplier at 10x steady even at idle.
I called again asus Italy and the sayd that for the moment they officially suggest "DO NOT UPGRADE THE RAM SINCE MANY USERS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS"
Please check also this problem with your 2GB modules.
Bye

My multiplyer jumps from x6 to x10 even if I set the BIOS option to disabled so obviously something in windows is overriding this. Anyone know where, I'm on battery at the moment and that may affect it?
As to displaying the option, wonder if it is worth trying AMIBCP to see if the option can be forced on? Of course if the displaying of the option is controlled by code even if the place holder is forced to display then this won't help :-/

Other users had the same problem, IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DISABLE THE SPEEDSTEP

Going a little offtopic, but yes it appears that without the 'Minimum Processor State' set to 100% your multiplyer will jump around from x6 to x10 even when you are on mains power. And of course this option isn't showing in Processor power management options :-/

then I will try to return my 2gb stick and buy a new one if they start supporting it

That is the trade off by the looks of it. I feel that windows 7 is running 'better' with the 2GB of RAM even with the stock CPU speed so I'll keep mine and be able to test things if needed :-)

ok, yeah I guess it is another topic to discuss memory vs cpu freq, but your input is interesting. however ill try to be a little cheap and buy memory again when I am sure what to buy
. yet another topic is how it works with windows 7 on 1101ha. I thought the 1101ha was too slow for win7? I have seen bench marking results in which win7 performs worse than xp in every aspect.

Hi all. Is this the kind of memory we think will work?

I move carefully...since calling asus by phone today, they replies me: for the moment they do not suggest to upgrade the memory to 2 GB
Anyway in few days I should receive the same Hynix memory I found inside the PC but 2GB, as soon as I will test it I will report here on the forum.

Hi All
Maybe this will help. I sent an email request through the Norwegian branch, which sent it to Taiwan. Here's my 3 questions, and their reply:
1. Will Asus publish a list of compatible memory units that is compatible with the overclocking feature?
Answer: 4 RAM types:
DDRII800 SO-D HYNIX 1GB 200P
DDRII800 SO-D A-DATA 1GB 200P
DDRII800 SO-D SAMSUNG 1GB 200
DDR2-667 SO-D UNIFOSA 2GB 200P
DDRII800 SO-D HYNIX 2GB 200P
2. Will Asus soon supply a bios upgrade that will remove this issue and enable overclocking for all types of compatible memory units?
Answer: NO, the issue can’t be removed. It would more possibly result in system performance instability if enable it for all types. We don’t recommend it.
3. Does Asus have any plans of upgrading the current CPU and Chipset supplied with the 1101HA to reach 1,5-1,6GHz as with mainstream netbooks?
Answer: No, ASUS doesn’t have it in schedule now.
I would really appreciate if someone that tries out any of the 2GB versions could post back a confirmation that it really works. I haven'r bought the 1101HA yet, but this is the only issue that stands between myselv and a new laptop ![]()
Thanks in advance for the help.

Here is a link to Hynix website that lists the SO-DIMMs.

That's great finally we have a real answer...
I bought some day ago 1 sodimm hynix model HYMP125S664CP9-S6 AB-C and I'm waiting its delivering.
By the list you post seems it's fully compatible, so in few day's I will have a confirmation.
Thank you

Ok, I think I'm going to order that 2GB Hynix.

Check this out sShadowSs. Thanks for sharing that info with us. Great to see that we at least have a couple of solutions now.

I really hope that Asus can eventually let us throw in name-brand memory like Kingston, Crucial, or Corsiar though. I've never even heard of Hynix or Unifosa before.

Consideirng the 1101HA is slated (accoridng to the leaked EEE roadmap from a few days ago) to have a pretty early EOL date (I think it disappears sometime this fall), I wouldn't count on a big push for this model from Asus.
I'd say that email from their support is pretty much as much as we're going to get out of them, at least as far as RAM compatability and overclocking is concerned.
I'd personally like to see an 1101HA refresh with Win 7 pre-loaded, along with an N280 and a 250GB HDD but I'm afraid it's not going to happen.

Thanks for thanks
All it took was a local phonecall and an email ![]()
I would still like someone to confirm the upgrade (with full mem-spec) before I purchase one of these babies myself.
Really like the specs on the 1101HA, and the only drawback was the CPU/overclocking issue and also the standard 6-cell battery og 48wh supplied here in Norway (instead of the 63Wh).

THE HYNIX HYMP125S64CP8-S6 MEMORY MODULE IS ARRIVED AND I TESTED IT.
FINALLY IT WORKS! OVERCLOCK WORKS WELL AND ALSO SPEEDSTEP

Hi, can you double or even triple check that to see if the overclocking stays?
Reason why I ask this is because I remember the option appearing on my 1101ha, but shortly afterwards it went away.
Thanks.
