My 900HA has been modified into the Tablet PC.
Very labor-intensive, plastic is hard to cut even with the dremel tool.
Originally I was going to turn my 900A into the Tablet, but then I realized 900HA would be much better. 320GB vs 4GB HDD.
So the combo consists of the parts from 900A white and 900HA black.
I was surprised to find out the inverter and screen from 900A would NOT work on 900HA.
There is an extra screw on the 900HA in the HDD compartment which you need to unscrew. It does not exist on 701 or 900A. Just be careful when removing parts.

In fact doing this mod for 900x is easier than 701. The cable is longer, you don't need to twist it.
One tip: Ctrl-Alt-DownArrow will flip the screen horisontally 180 degrees, Ctrl-Alt-UpArrow will turn it back. I found it very useful with this mod, I can control webcam/mic/stand position. Also can be used on your friend's (or enemies) computers for a few minutes of amusement.

Hi Maine_Coon, nice mod, i intend to do the same and post pictures. but one question, i want the cut on the bezel to be as smooth as possible, like a laser cut from asus. did you have to sand down after using the dremel tool.any suggestion

Hi maine_coon,
Is there something special you put between your screen and pc. On the fifth picture it looks like you put something in between.
I've the eee pc 901 and want it to turn into a tablet and of course put a touch screen in.
I've heard that windows 7 is optimized for netbooks, anyone experience with W7 in combination as a tablet or touchscreen interface. How is the virtual keyboard?

I'm running Win7 ultimate on a 901 with TS. On screen keyboard is ok, but I wouldn't want to use it exclusively. It seems a bit large for a 8.9" screen. Once calibration is sorted out the TS is great to use, flicks work well. Grab & Drag for firefox is a must have.

Which TS do you use? In the past there was fido dido on eBay, but I think he has stopped as I can't find him anymore.
About Win7, is there a special version for netbooks or can you use any win7 version. As there is limited storage on a 901.

I'm running ultimate off a 32gb Runcore, so space isn't an issue. Win7 can be reduce to install on a 4gb SSD I'm using visual touch world screens, I've installed 3 now and have never had any problems. The calibration problems are discussed here, basicaly the win7 calibration tool uses too few points.

Nothing special, just the tape.
BTW, this thing now works as 8.9" infrared remote control too.

I hope you have some sort of heatsink in there. My 701 tablet gets extremely hot without the heat sink.

It sounds like you have a 904 and a 701??? Can you tell me if the 904 cable is compatible or is the same as the 701 cable?? And how much longer is the 904 cable compared to the 701 cable??
I'm talking about the LVDS cable ofcourse... I'm working on a Car-pc mod and I thought about extending the cable by a couple inches... but the thought of soldering 20 hairsize wires is not very confident-inspiring. I would rather try to find a different cable that fit.
