Does anyone know of an EXTREMELY lightweight distro for the eeePC that is only a broswer? I'm thinking something along the lines of the CrunchPad browser (see here: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/04/10/ab … -pictures/)
By only consisting of a web broswer, the disto could be super small, and even run from RAM (but with the ability to use the SSD for caching). The only problem with other distros is that even when you only want simple functionality, they give you the kitchen sink as well. I mean, you only need enough OS to control the hardware (sound, video, brightness) and the web broswer.

PupEee is pretty durn slim at a mere 100 odd Mb and allready runs from RAM, but if thats too much it also comes with a tool preinstalled for remastering even slimmer editions.
I havn't tried, but if you removed anything that isn't the browser or related (like xchat, email client etc) I would guess you can cut the size in half of thereabouts.
/Edit: there is infact a Browserpuppy weighting in at 66Mb, and it has the needed drivers for the Asus Eee (their homepage claims it works on the 701 and the 900).
//Edit: There is also Breeezy, which works well on older Eees - I used to use it, but PupEee is just better for my needs.

I used to use breeezy & can heartily recommend it for the 701. I think most, if not all, puppy variants boot to RAM.
Tinycore is even smaller (11 meg) and should work on all eee types, but you'll need to decide which browser to use (firefox, shiretoko, opera, etc.) as it doesn't have any apps beyond a gui (jwm) when you first install it. It also boots to RAM.
