Hi All,
1st post for me, just to say I've tested the new AmigaSYS3 Plus livecd on an SD card and it boots up and runs fine.
Audio = Working
Video = Working (640x480)
Lan = Working
Wifi = no madwifi installed
USB = no automount installed, manual mount works ok.
Emulation speed, 68040 with JIT and full stereo 44Khz, ECS & AGA full speed.
As its based an a stripped down debian build so I am assuming I can install madwifi and get the wifi working etc, will keep hacking at it ![]()
Wom.
Some piccies...

It looks really nice. It is another os to consider for the EEE PC. ![]()

Great work. My first computer was an Amiga 500, so I will be really interested in your progress.

Nice!
I wonder how AROS would perform on an eeepc...

http://aros.sourceforge.net/ I found the page for Aros.
"The AROS Research Operating System is a lightweight, efficient and flexible desktop operating system, designed to help you make the most of your computer. It's an independent, portable and free project, aiming at being compatible with AmigaOS 3.1 at the API level (like Wine, unlike UAE), while improving on it in many areas. The source code is available under an open source license, which allows anyone to freely improve upon it."
Being lightweight, it should be able to install it onto the EEE PC and have it work. ![]()

AROS probably would run fine, but it's a Workbench replacement, and therefore does not emulate the hardware properly if you wanted to watch demos or play games etc.
I have found it increasingly difficult to insert/compile madwifi and the athl2 modules into their custom debian, so I might just do it myself ![]()
Using Debian SID stripped installed on the eee pc, i'll pre-compile the modules and U-UAE as well to get the closest 100% HW compatibility.
I'll report back on progress IF i've sobered up in the new year ![]()

Holy ****, this is awesome. I need this!
The EEE hardware and this could make for a perfect modern "Amiga"! Asus really ought to look into this. I mean, you've even got a "floppy" drive in the form of the SD card slot ![]()

This is great, please keep us informed on your progress, if you get the madwifi running that would be fantastic....
I still have my huge collection of amiga hard/software!! I was/am still a huge
amiga fan.... love that os...If only it had a modern browser......

Anyone tried Amithlon?
http://www.amigahistory.co.uk/emulators/amithlon.html
"AMIthlon was the second Amiga emulator to be announced, coming just two weeks after the revelation of AmigaOS XL. It offers a similar level of performance to the AmigaOS XL emulator, reporting a 450 MHz 68040 on a 1 GHz AMD Athlon.
The emulator, developed by Bernd Meyer, is based upon the authors' experience with the WinUAE JiT emulation, but features some dramatic changes to increase emulation speed (at the loss of compatibility). The slim-line ISOLinux distribution is used to boot directly into the Amiga emulation, removing the need for users to interact with a host operating system. This simple, yet effective change resulted in many users favouring Amithlon over AmigaOS XL as the emulation of choice.
At the time of writing only a small number of graphics (nVidia, Matrox, and a few others) and sound cards (Soundblaster 128 & AC97) are supported in the first release through the use of AHI & Picasso96. Networking is also limited to generic 10Mbit NE2000 PCI cards. "
Is this it?

@Wombatter
Could yoy try to boot AROS the same way you boot AmigaSYS? I'm very interested in how far AROS will boot on the eee PC!
You can download a livecd from http://aros.sourceforge.net/

@BigWarpGuy
Yes this is this amithlon.
But first let me introduce myself. Aged 41, I'm the proud owner of an icory eeePC 4G which I also want to be able to boot one or several Amiga-like OS, including ARos and amithlon. I shall have a look at Amiga Sys too (seems somewhat complex though). But my main usage will be with linux and especially eeeXubuntu;
Alas, I do not have any USB CD-ROM drive. I don't wish to have any, but how could I setup my original amithlon CD without?

I have. Stalls part of the way through the linux startup-sequence. Haven't tried anything else. Was something like a failed driver or something.

from the amithlon forums, it seems that yes you now have to be proficient at linux to make it work on new hardware.
but asus eeepc being so special and one thing, it could be worth the effort to try it and report it on the web how to make it possible.
I haven't tried it myself, though.

Cloanto confirmed that their AmigaOS Emulator "Amiga Forever" also runs on the Asus Eee PC.

Hi,
Thought I would give WUAE a go on my 4G EEE (Win XP 2GB RAM, 8GB SDHC). Seems to work ok when running Amiga games via ADF files. However I can not get it to boot up using the Workbench 3.0 or 3.1 ADFs. I want to setup an emulated hard drive within WUAE. When I try put the Workbench or Install disk ADF into DF0: the kickstart screen blinks but does not load the disk :-(
I have a feeling the EEE PC is too low spec for this, since when trying the same thing on my desktop Windows PC it works fine.
Anyone got any ideas or managed to do this?
Thanks

Indeed, AmigaOS should rock on eeePC. Asus should makje a deal with the right hoilders to make ot on the shelves!
got to look for this amigasys3!!!
@kibibo: so you too have known the one and true Light? it wouyld be cool to have an amiga-like forum on blogee.net to don't you think?

AROS is not a Workbench replacement, it is an OS of it's full right with akin API to that of AmigaOS, meaning that most of times ports would be a compile away. Running AROS instead on EEEPC instead of an emu solution would mean that no overhead would be lost with emulation, and yet you are allowed to run game and demos using the same E-UAE core used on Linux. There are plans to use the E-UAE so that seamless integration can happen between host and hostee allowing to launch amiga apps as if they were AROS's own, at least at user level users shouldn't notice the difference, there's also further plans to untie UAE from Amiga IP allowing all kind of users to use Amiga apps without the need for Amiga ROMS which IMO would be a great leap forward.
It should also be noticed that AROS is well aware of EEEPC, and a bounty is already set so that it could be run on it.

I have tried some amiga systems and these are my results
Amithlon - http://www.amigawiki.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl/Amithlon
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/7945/file0009em2.jpg
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/4640/file0016jq3.jpg
I have never used aminthlon so I tried to boot the cd and got to a section with a bouncing ball. I have got to the stage it displays this message :
Reboot in progress. Phase 1 (68040 Soft Reset)
Reboot in progress. Phase 2 (GFX Reset)
Reboot in progress. Phase 5 (emulator crash?)
AROS - http://aros.sourceforge.net/
http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/3310/file0017ja9.jpg
I thought I would try the Aros live cd and it only reached the screenmode selection as none of the screen modes are supported. A bounty has been made for Aros on EEE.
AmiKit - http://amikit.amiga.sk/
AmigaKit is possible to run but only in the incorrect screenmode. The problem is with the installer as the eee pc screenmode is not supported.

@the4mula
How do you boot AROS and Amithlon? Do you have an external USB CD-rom? Have you tried standard VESA screenmode? They should work, atleast 640x480 should do it?
I'm sitting on the fence and wait for the 900 to be released! Then I sure will try AROS on the eee it myself! AROS dont support USB booting yet, so it should be possible to boot from SD-card (they are regarded as normal IDE drives?). Does anyone know how to make a SD card bootable? Is there an ISO to SD-card utility?
Once we see AROS boot on an eee, I'm sure the AROS bounty will get alot more attention! :-)
