HA it rhymes ![]()
Thank Boomerang73 for finding that the new 802 bios for the 1000he unlocks more than 100mb more video ram ![]()
For those who do not know what this means, it means that videos and games run much smoother now ![]()
3dmark03 comparison tests coming soon:

remember that the CPU is lowered in 802, but look at the single fill rate on 802!
The 802 bios is defiantly faster graphics wise even if the atom is running at 50mhz less ![]()
My next test is to test both bios's when the atom is at the same speed overclocked ![]()

HOLY ****!!! THE 802 is MILES AHEAD of the 601 ![]()
(HULU360p) standard 360p definition now smooth in full screen, (without SHE)
(HULU480p) Can be played if SHE is on super and quality reduced to low
(HULU HD) High Depth (higher than 480p) playable (Overclocked beyond SHE and quality reduced)
(Youtube) Standard def now smooth (without SHE)
(Youtube HD) High depth now playable but slightly choppy (with SHE)
(netflix) Watch instantly runs well
(ABC) ABC episode player now runs well in standard and HD (though getting it to start is time consuming)
This is a great improvement from older Bios versions. Hulu360 had to be played using SHE and low quality, HD was nonexistant. Youtube was choppy in standard, unplayable in HD. ABC would not run in HD

I am interested in your results CMS. Keep us Posted.
From what you are saying though, does this mean that we have 228MB for graphics? because don't we already have 128mb shared for graphics.

Wow, I don't understand what happened! Yesterday, when I first upgraded my bios, I was able to watch youtube hd without much choppyness and hulu also. Now they are choppy ![]()

the choppiness is very annoying eh

Correctomundo, it used to be that the max shared video ram was 128mb, now with the new bios, it is 228 ![]()

i updated to 802 from 601 and to 601 from 607(the way I got it stock.) Video does play a bit smoother w/out having to set quality to low in hulu. As far as overall performance, I never really noticed any difference between the 601 and 607 bios, and now the 802. so I don't know if it's just me and what I use the machine for but I guess losing the 50mhz in cpu speed isn't too big a deal. And having dolby sound didn't really bother me since I never had it w/the 607 bios and thought everything was fine.

Bump to CMS for his results ![]()

My friend and I at lunch today did some informal testing. I am on 601 and he was on 802. Both of us on mac SHE. Tried some Hulu HD 720p vids and it was the same on both...stutter.
Didn't get a chance to try other sites....

You should have tried both at regular hulu

This version of AsusUpdate will let you downgrade back to 0601:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/flash … t61002.zip
I'm on 0601, but 3dmark is too fat for me to want to have it installed.
I'll have to give the 0802 bios a shot later since I never missed the Dolby and don't use SHE. ![]()

Results are in, Bios 802 is better
Check out the fill rates, the overall score is lower I believe because of the missing 50mhz in the atom with 802 look at the cpu tests

Thanks for the benchmarks, I'd like to know the results if the CPUs were clocked at the same speed.

JUST DID, the 802 is much much faster than 601 ![]()

Just going to give 0802 a shot, but I just wanted to say that I never have any problem playing any of the formats mentioned except Hulu 480 which brings it to its knees (never seen the HD). I just wonder why some people have so much trouble and some don't.

The dobly sound in 0802 still disappears, right?

CMS,
Why is it that multi texturing is better in 0802 @ 1700Mhz than it is @ 1900Mhz....I have never used 3dMark so my knowledge of how it works is pretty much zero.

I would not know lol ![]()

I found out, after looking at both of the tests:
the demo of 3dmark03 sets a specific resolution that you cannot change
in 601 it defaultly runs the tests in 1024x600
but in 802 it tuns 1024x768?
O_O

Weird.
Obviously the software recognizes the better capabilities of the graphics process due to having the extra memory and decided to test using a higher res....I don't know.
