usepmtimer option in boot.ini?

Hey all, new guy around here. Picked up an eee 900 black with XP. Havent had it a month yet, but I've stumbled across something that might help out other XP users.

While playing with zsnes (an snes emulator) I noticed it having timing issues. Google led me to a few forums that suggested adding the /usepmtimer switch to the windows boot.ini. I did so and restarted, and it runs perfectly now.

It seems this switch was put in to correct timing issues that arise when the computer switches power/performance modes, as laptops do when switching from AC to battery power. The details get a little too technical for me, but the most in depth explanation I found is here:

If anyone else is noticing slowdown, lag, or oddball timing in games or sound this might be worth trying out.

Also if anyone more knowledgable than I knows of any reason this switch should not be used on the eee, please let me know.
