i find it hard to belive that zip has it befor amazon being that amazon is a MAJOR online retailer. also amazon has a better return policy.

they didnt increase the price. its what its suppose to be. $25 off is preorder discount. im going to wait and save 25 bucks on amazon!

I know about the pre-order discount, but when I PURCHASED the 1000HE the price was $377.13 with 2 day shipping included and I didnt pre-order anything with ZipZoom. The next day, base price was up to $392.99. Now the price at ZipZoom is $389.99. I was just happy I caught the price I did that day because now the price keeps jumping around. My order is still "processing" I guess because of the holiday...starting to regret cancelling my amazon preorder...

(starts to get that warm fuzzy feeling inside. oh the excitement!) well at least the was a status change, ive never ordered from zz before so I was being a little cautious ive been to many "mishaps" ordering things online.

Should get mine on Wednesday. Dl'd all the drivers to a USB and burned myself a XP Pro SP 3 install disc. Now the wait....sigh....

oh yea you ordered more ram and a bigger hdd right? thats cool, I think Im gonna save that project for a rainy day (whenever I get bored with my new toy!) but i've been reading alot about these solderless touchscreen kits...however I havent read much about how they affect battery life and I'm really looking forward to using all 7 hours from that battery before recharge.

Yeah, the HD and memory will be all I do to it. But I had a 1000H and since they are so very capable I will be moving alll my digital photos to the little guy as well. So the bigger HD will come in handy. I found with the 160GB drive that i was being selective about what I put on there. A 500GB should take that away. I can also use virtual clone drive and mount dvd images and such which will be handy.

I have 1000HE/Black on preorder with JR, will leave it there ... Zipzoom has black on hand, but at a upcost.

Would like to upgrade memory, but concerned about timing specs.
Ran into a interesting testimonial on Newegg/buyer of memory for a 1000HA.
He purchased ..
"Muskin (2GBx1) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM (4-4-4-12) 1.8volt"
The above memory would NOT allow computer to boot.
Muskin said above memory was NOT compatibility and to purchase the following ...
"Muskin (2GBx1) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM (5-5-5-15) 1.8volt"
Computer booted and runs fine.
The only difference in the two is the timing. Hopefully HE can use faster version.
Anyone know of 4-4-4-12 memory compatible with HE ??

I just pre-ordered a blue HE from buydig.com - great deal at $368! ($365 + $13 shipping, minus 2.5% MS cashback) For those of us who'd have to pay tax at JR, and who are willing to wait a little while to save a little $$, it's about as good as it gets AFAICT. (They're located in NJ, so if you live there, you'd have to pay tax).
They say they'll start shipping "on or around 2/20/09-3/14/09". If it seems like it'll be on the later end of that, I'll cancel and go with buy.com - $370 shipped after an easily-googlable $10-off-$200 coupon.
Tigerdirect also has a pretty good deal - $371 shipped (after 5% MS cashback).

I ordered from JR on 2/14/09 and it shipped on 2/16/09. So the Pre-Orders are shipping as suggested.

Hmm, there seem to be some inconsistencies with the order in which J&R is shipping the 1000HEs. I (and many others) ordered before 2/14 and haven't had ours shipped yet. Just trying to get to the bottom of this, but did you order with or without the Live Cashback (bringing the total down to around $340)? It would be pretty annoying (but not too surprising I guess) if the J&R people were fast-tracking orders that gave their commissions to their own employees rather than refunding it to the consumer.

Talked to customer service today, said my 1000HE/Blk will be shipped Friday 2-20-09 via 3 day UPS.
Hopefully my MS cashback will show up after JR ships / bills my card. If it does my delivered cost will be $347.87.

i just Cancelled my amazon order and placed one with JR yesterday. today Cancelled JR and orderd with zipzoomfly overnight shipping hope to have it friday just sold my eee pc 701 and gave my brother the 904HA and sold the 900ha and gave the hp 2133 to a friend overseas . im down to zero lol lost all my toys
