Having been fed up with my lack of success with eeeCTL, I decided it'd be cool to see what made SHE tick, I found a way to open up the EXE (illegal???) and found something interesting.
As well as this menu file
"148 MENU
LANGUAGE LANG_CHINESE, 0x1
{
POPUP "Mode Change"
{
MENUITEM "High Definition Mode", 32782
MENUITEM "Super Performance Mode", 32772
MENUITEM "High Performance Mode", 32774
MENUITEM "Power Saving Mode", 32775
MENUITEM "Auto Mode", 32776
MENUITEM SEPARATOR
MENUITEM "Exit", 32777
}
}"
Is this a setting reserved for special Asus products (cd drive probably a must) or is it something that can be opened and further OC our machines with this good piece of software?
Edit. Found a way to liberate the menu option. But it seems it doesn't have any relation to this machine. Whatever setting I put SHE to, HD mode just resets it to that setting. FSB stutters and crawls back to where it was. Hunt goes on.

Interesting find!

Would be great to find a way to unlock this setting!

Yeah hopefully someone with more experience can find something. I'm trying to find a way to trace what it does in my system to find where I can make changes. Only thing in the EXE is a menu, and a series of images used to indicate the setting you pick (popup, and tray icon). So it must be something somewhere aside from the exe. But I was able to change the menu options to OCed, Stock, Standby and Auto instead of Super Performance Mode, Auto Mode, etc.

in which version of SHE did you find this HD Mode?
Offline
Just that standard EXE that gets produced after install. I think it's a hidden menu though, there are 3 main menus within the exe, 146, 147, and 148. I've found that my particular Eee (and probably many others) but the other, unused menus have the HD setting. I think it's just for other ASUS products that use SHE, with BD drives, to use.

LOL yay!!! http://www.liliputing.com/tag/super-hybrid-engine
Even though I still don't know how to make it active.

Is there a way to make (For Example) Super-performance Mode run at say 1900MHz ?
A bit of reverse engineering should do the trick.... ![]()

Pretty much but the issue is that there is a very minimum level of coding in the actual EXE. It's probably buried somewhere in there, but I fear that it's largely done through processes that I can't find.

From what I understand, the current processor will not handle Hi Def content. I think the extra setting is for the upcoming tandem between the new Atom Processor and the new Nvidia Ion, that will enable the viewing of Hi Def content.

The CPU surely can handle Hi-def content, it's the original SSD wich can't (at least on 900 and 901). But if you use a runcore, dell mini or some other faster SSDs you're able to view HD-stuff
This is just things I've read about on this and other forums, so please correct me if i'm wrong.

Here You go: http://rapidshare.com/files/208709922/S … ine_HD.exe
I've enabled this mode, so when right clicked on SHE tray icon, You should be able to switch into it.
It has been hacked from version 1016.
It seems to work because it also changes registry setting:
[HKCU\Software\Asus\EeePC\SHE]
SysMode = dword:00000003 (HD Mode)
Modes are indexed like this:
0 - Super Performance
1 - High Performance
2 - Power Saving
3 - HD Mode
99 - Auto Power Saving / Auto High Mode
If someone can check the speed with any CPU testing app I'd be grateful.
I've also changed SHE's crapy main icon to the second one in it's resources.

Tried it on my 904ha. It flashes the HD mode icon on the screen and changes the SHE icon but no change in cpu speed using cpuz. It's a start anyway.

Hmm, then maybe it's time to look inside the code and reverse SHE's CPU clocking solution.
Would be nice to have such a simple app (there are simmilar, I know) enabling 2GHz speed

Hi,
in the new Eee PC 1000HV shipped in Italy there is the "High Definition Mode": http://www.eeepc.it/eee-pc-1000hv-prest … tion-mode/
Offline
So it seems that it's made for Intel Atom N280 series. Not for N270
.
Offline
Actually, it was probably made for EEE's that can actually play HD content well, like the HV with its 3450.
Offline
I tried to install version 1.16 (wich you can find at the 1000HV:s driversite) instead of version 1.02 wich is aviable for the 901 at asus download site... but no HD mode popped up ![]()
So I assume it's not possible to get this mode on any other processor than N280 so far
Offline
I guess this explains it

Spanx a lot, I was a bit curious ![]()

So why don't we get the 1000HV? ![]()
Everyone hates Americans! T_T

Probably did us a favor, the 1000HV's lack luster graphical boost would have been hard pressed to justify its price in the US.
1080p performance was less than smooth, with audio de-sync in the video reviews. Gaming was similarly not great, ION is a better option in comparison.
Also like the Mobi Ion it doesn't have a higher res screen, so you wind up doing a lot of panning/scrolling in the higher resolution settings.
Though it is a shame the N10J series was their only attempt at a serious 10" model. Probably would have done better if they didn't charge double the netbook price for it.
Offline
Well the N10J wasn't really a 10" form factor, but an 11" form factor with a ginormous bezel.
Offline
Not really, 1000HE for example is 10.5" x 7.5" x 1.5" ( 26.7cm x 19.1cm x 3.8cm) 3.2 lbs (1.45 kg) vs the N10J's 10.8" x 7.6" x 1.4" (27.4cm x 19.3cm x 3.6cm) 3.5 lbs (1.59 kg). So not a big difference. Especially considering all the N10J came with, including the Express Card slot and HDMI port.
