May be an old article, but I believe it is true and the new EEE's shown at CES will be refreshed with these in the fall. Based on next generation Atom, Pineview. Can't wait to get my next EEE with Windows 7 and dual core Pineview!

We could have dual core Atoms in netbooks NOW if Intel would allowed them. However as netbooks could eat into sales of "normal notebooks" easier it isn't going to happen too soon.

It would be neat to see such a small pc with a dual core cpu.

*facepalm* when will people learn that dual cores are not the be all and end all? More cores are not necessarily better. For example in web browsing a lot of performance problems on the Eee are due to Flash. Flash doesn't take advantage of multithreading, so it's always limited to the performance of one core. The Atom's single threaded performance is comparable to the Celeron M 900, which is comparable to a 6-7 year old desktop processor. For performance improvements Netbooks would benefit more from faster per-core performance than simply more cores.
If you want a dual core in such a small PC, look at the Raon Everun note. Smaller than a 701, and it packs an AMD Turion x2 1.2Ghz

Ah, but along with dual core atoms will come discreet GPU's as well and probably a screen resolution bump to boot!
That keeps me excited.
You're right about the Roan Everrun - it comes with that essentially already as does the exorbitantly priced but delicious Asus N10.
Still i think you'd be a fool to grab either of those at the moment considering in 8ish months or so similarly priced dual core atom note books with superior chipsets, higher screen res and discreet GPU's should be available.
That's what's holding me back at the moment.
$1000AU for an N10Jc when i'm holding a 1000H doesn't seem very reasonable. I'm not sure of the price on the Everrun Notes in Australia but with their touchscreens (if i'm not mistaken) they'd probably cost about the same as the N10.

Here is a site with a Everun Note for $659.00
Here is a Froogle for the Everun Note.

One would think the price would be lower if it had an AMD processor. I guess being a dual core would raise the price.

although the Everun Note sports a dual core processor and decent graphics card, the price is still a bit steep.

It would be nice to see a more affordable AMD netbook computer. ![]()

The Everun Note is also available with a Sempron 1200 MHz CPU, 16 GB MLC SSD (bah!) featuring Linux (which Linux?). I haven't seen any prices for that model tho

Absolutely. I just wonder how many people actually do know what programs they use which allows for multithreading, and what does not. And if they even use any of those programs on their netbook currently.
