Hi all,
I bought an 1000H today but since they only sell them with finnish xp here in Finland I'm wondering if someone could share an english restore disc in some way, if that's allowed.
Thanks in advance,
Anders

En usko moisen olevan sallittua tällä foorumilla. En muista tähän hätään miten nuo lisenssiasiat menevät eri kieliversioiden välillä. Ehkä saa asennettua enkkuversion XP Homesta, ehkä ei.
Same in english: I do not think that is allowed on this forum. I cant remember how the lisence limits installing different language versions using the same key, might allow or might not allow.

I had the same problem, my eeepc 1000H was in german an I wanted an english version.
So what can you do:
1 Buy a new legal copy of xp :-)))
2 Download a copy of an eeepc 701 recovery dvd (contains no ghost image but an oem winxpsp2) with rapidshare
Extract winXP with winfuture XP ISO builder (very very very easy)
Slipstream sp3 with Nlite (very easy) and burn a winxp-cd
Install win xp with an usb Drive (if you habe an usb drive: easy) or
Install from an SD-Card (takes some time, complicated)
You can use the license-key on the winxp sticker of your eeepc to activate/validate windows: This will be a legal
installation because it is an Asus OEM-Version of winXP.
So how to find that 701 restore disk.....
Search in google for: rapidshare.com/files/122407056/EEEXP (First search result under hotfilms)
Note to administrators: delete if this is against the forum rules
If you need more information how to proceed, just keep posting in this thread

Carl

Ok, I see.
Thanks a lot for the information carldall, I found an easier way to get a hold of that 701 recovery dvd :-)
The reason why I wanted and image of the 1000H disc is because it has SP3 included but I guess I'll have to slipstream that one then.
Doing it the usb-way seem to be the case here so more reading ahead...

I installed it with the SD, I was sceptical at the beginning but I discovered some advantages:
Windows installation takes only 30 min. But creating the SD will take you an hour.
No $$$-USB drive needed.
I followed the instructions in this thread: http://wiki.eeeuser.com/windowsxpusb
If you don't have an USB-ROM Drive, buy a cable for approx. 10EUR:

and use an old internal CD-Drive.
If you should have a problem detecting the HDD, slipstream a Sata driver (ICH7) in the winxp installation disk:
