I decided to buy a Eee PC without the built-in webcam because certain places I go prohibit the use of webcams or camera phones and they do make occasional inspections. If I wanted to purchase an external webcam for occasional use, are there any recommendations especially given the fact that the operating system is linux?

I accidentally bought a non-refundable SURF and so I ended getting an extra webcam. I had to look at the drivers, but I got the Creative Live Optia VF0270 (the white one) and that works fine with the installed kernel drivers. The Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 should also work.
