Are there updated versions of the chipset and audio drivers? Bluetooth? I'd like to get the latest versions of those if possible as well.
Thanks for the info.. made searching a lot easier. ![]()

Awesome, I just got my 1000H in today. After updating the bios I noticed that the camera and wlan were disabled in the bios by default, easy enough to turn back on, just odd...

No latest chipset and audio drivers. I would wait for Asus to come out with patched ones if anything.

Thanks for the hard work! ! !

Bump. Good thread.
I just bought a 1000H so this info was excellent. Hope it arrives soon, looking forward to not using this old desktop all the time.
So, when my 1000H comes, all I need to update are those 3 tbings? The other 6/30 updates at support.asus.com are already applied, right?

I wouldn't assume that you absolutely need to upgrade, unless you are having issues. You can always re-install the old drivers with the XP disk if you want though....

Have you tested the new video drivers and found they were faster?

Just wondering,
Thanks.

Do I really need to update the bios? My 1000H runs perfectly straight out of the box (bios 0601). Task manager shows hyperthreading, no issues with the brightness of the screen - if I turn it down, it stays down. Having read someone's experience of 6 minute boot up times after upgrading the bios, I'm a little reluctant to updrade. Is this crucial?

hi where can you get the 1000H linux touchpad driver? i can't turn tapping off now i've installed ubuntu and it's really annoying clicking stuff by accident...

That .rar extension indicates a Windows archive. Is there a similar updated driver for those of us on Xandros?
Thanks

The new touchpad drivers are very nice. They have added a bunch of multitouch control settings. I haven't been able to get the page up page down three finger swipe working very well, and the zoom in and zoom out function lags a bit on digital images, probably due to the atom processor.

Indeed it is a Windows driver, but .RAR is a universal format. Have a look: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
As for a Linux drivers, you may try here: http://arjan.opmeer.net/elantech/
or Google for some more info.

My 1000h has the bios ver 901, but not the one that was released on 7/21.
What would I gain by upgrading? I heard that it enables hyperthreading, but I've already read somewhere that the update disabled the overclocking to 1.8Ghz, limiting it to 1.6Ghz. I doubt the credibubility of those posts, but I was wondering if someone can tell me not too worry.

if your bios is 901 you have the latest,so you are fine with that!
enjoy your eee

How do I open and install the drivers for the touchpad? I'm new to this, its a .RAR file, how do I install and update the current trackpad firmware?
Also, where would I see the bios # to verify the correct bios? Press F2 during startup? Bios 901 is the most current? I'm having no issues with my 1000h and not sure if the bios update is needed.

Hey guys, I think I just stumbled across a handful of newer driver versions for the 1000H/XP. Sorry if this has been posted before but I didn't see anything when perusing this or any other EEE forums last night.
I went to support.asus.com and selected the EEE 1000HD/XP (instead of the 1000H).
I don't have my 1000H here in front of me but it appears that the 1000HD has number of newer drivers than the slightly older 1000H, according to Asus' site.
EEE 1000HD versions:
Audio driver (V5.10.0.5643)
BT driver (V5.5.0.3200)
Chipset (V8.3.0.1013)
Touchpad (V7.0.3.5)
EEE 1000H versions:
Audio driver (V5.10.0.5612)
BT driver (V5.1.0.5500)
Touchpad (V7.0.2.5)
The 1000H's chipset driver, interestingly enough, actually appears to be slightly newer (V8.3.1.1011) or it could be a typo.
I was in a hurry yesterday but I did manage to have time to download and install the audio & BT drivers. They installed smoothly over the old ones with no problems. No noticable changes or improvements but still worth noting for those of us who like to have the latest versions of everything on their machines.
