Using the newly released kernel source .deb, I was able to rebuild the kernel, then build the sierra.ko driver needed to properly set up the tty ports provided by my Sierra 595U. I think I got my copy of wvdial from Debian etch, if it wasn't already loaded (might have been!)
You can get the sources here: http://sources.sbrio.org/eee/ - the driver itself is in siera-3g-eee.tgz, and the wvdial.conf file is provided too.
By extension this means that I was able to successfully match the eee kernel's modversions! Once installing the .deb the kernel tarball is provided in /usr/src. I put up the Module.symvers file up as well, so that you may only have to copy in the config-2.6... file found in /boot to .config, then run make oldconfig && make prepare. I had to build the entire kernel to produce that file. ![]()
In addition the other source releases from Asus are available here, un-rar'd for easier hacking.
