A working Debian atl2 source package for the wired ethernet interface on the Eee PC is now available. Get it here:
http://people.debian.org/~synrg/atl2/
Thanks to Kel Modderman for the initial packaging, I have reviewed and uploaded this package to Debian. It will be reviewed by the ftp archive admins shortly. Assuming it is accepted I will be removing it from my personal space at people.debian.org and you can get updates from your preferred Debian mirror.
I have tested this with Debian sid using a stock 2.6.22 kernel on the Eee PC and it works perfectly. Just:
# dpkg -i atl2-source_1.0.40.4-1_all.deb # module-assistant auto-install atl2
There is also a patch in the package for 2.6.23 which I have not tested because 2.6.23 is not yet in Debian.

Nice work! ![]()

I should have mentioned it explicitly, but of course I'm looking for testers, particularly using etch or lenny instead of sid. It would also be great if someone would try it out with the 2.6.23 kernel.
If you're using Ubuntu or some other Debian derivative, I'm sure the package will work fine there too.

FANTASTIC, The debian source package works perfectly for me in ubuntu gutsy!
download the .deb file, then double click it to install it.
the open a terminal, and type
sudo m-a a-i atl2
This will compile and install the module.
Than just reboot, and it should work!

Works fine on my Gutsy install. Thanks for the heads-up Ben.

Is up and running on an ArchLinux install, with 2.6.23.9 kernel. Nice!

There seem to be competing versions:

(which is also at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/atl2/ )

I have been working with Chris to test new releases, Kel has packaged 2.0.3 from Chris and I uploaded it several days ago to sid. In a few more days it will be in lenny.
