gFTP works

Plain and simple,
Follow this tutorial http://wiki.eeeuser.com/addingxandrosrepos
and then once done type the following command in your shell

sudo apt-get install gftp

press y and <enter> to the question asked

then y and <enter> again

Done.

Applications > Internet > gFTP

I personally find this alot better than the 'integrated' ftp and sftp in xandros. gFTP is also the same one I use on my Ubuntu desktop PC, so the familiar interface is nice too.

When I find more working useful programs I'll post as I go.

Re: gFTP works

I liked gFTP too but in the end it was unreliable.  Quite often I found that it would stall when attempting to transfer a file.  The built in FTP functionality in file manager does not suffer from this at all.

Re: gFTP works

hmm.. never had those issues, but it must just be personal preference. If anybody is looking to try something different, then I'd recommend this.

I've used gFTP on various machines for years and never had that problem. The only time that ever happened it was the FTP server having a problem, not the software.

Probably the case, I'll give it another shot.

Re: gFTP works

Can anyone tell me what program is comparable to Windows? Meaning, is this a internet explorer / windows explorer for managing FTP sites (but then for linux)?

Re: gFTP works

It's an FTP Client like FileZilla, WS_FTP, Cute FTP, etc,

2G Surf - "A cracking little machine."

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
