How did you get XMoto to run? I've tried compiling it and downloading binaries and it always segfaults or complains about missing libraries

How to get Xmoto running:
1. Download:
http://repository.slacky.eu/slackware-1 … 86-1as.tgz
2. Uncompress: tar -xf xmoto-0.4.2-i686-1as.tgz
3. Copy necessary files usr/share/xmoto to /usr/share/xmoto
4. Install libode: sudo apt-get install libode0c2
(if you dont have installed SDL, you need it too)
5. Fake libcurl: sudo ln /usr/lib/libcurl.so.3 /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4
6. Execute xmoto (in xmoto directory)
7. Enjoy!

How do you install SDL? I tried sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2-dev , but I got E: Couldnt find package libsdl1.2-dev.
I also got the same thing when I tried sudo apt-get install libode0c2
Danggit, I still haven't managed to install one game on this thing.

hi!
first of all thanks for all the games. Tyrian used to be like crack cocaine to me when i was younger ![]()
however when i play opentyrian here on my eee 900 the window unmaximizes and the game keeps going but doesn't accept any input except the control + alt + backspace...
is there any way to fix that??
i'm using ubuntu 8.04

I love Tyrian. Unfortunately I canīt get it to work in xandros.
Am I supposed to just open the linux executable? When I do it flashes a black box for about half a second and then closes it.
PARTIALLY SOLVED:
Iīm not sure why, but the only way I can play is to open a terminal, go to the directory containing the tyrian executable, and the type:
exec <path to tyrian folder>/tyrian
Anything else does nothing but flash up a box, which I can see says something, but it only lasts about one tenth of a second, so I canīt read it.
Does anybody know why this happens? It really troubles me as I canīt use the menu shortcut I have to open the game.
Anyone else have this problem? Could it have something to do with my using fluxbox?
Once again, please help me... anyone?
The actual game plays perfectly, in case anyone was interested.

i went to the opentyrian website and downloaded their .deb package... it still loses control every once and a while but if i click with the mouse once or twice i regain control of the ship.
but i'm using ubuntu... in your case the problem is completely different. you could try to compile the source code your self or, my favorite solution, change OS... believe me, the linux xandros that comes with the eeePC sucks big time! i really think you should try a different distro... and that easy mode it comes with isn't that easy in my opinion

Or just install it from repos and launch it non default resolution, which is _bit_ faster than compiling ![]()
xmoto -fs -res 800x480

Okay, first and foremost, many, many thanks for the work you're doing for the community. I LOVE Tyrian, but unfortunately, I'm an absolute noob at this "Linux" thing, although I am trying to learn. I managed to get OpenTyrian downloaded, but I'm at a loss as to how to run it. Is there a Linux equivalent to setup.exe that I should be looking for? I'd really appreciate the help, especially since most of you seem so good with this kind of thing.
Unfortunately, I do need a lot of help - instructions like "SDL", "fake", and "just install it from repos and launch it non default resolution" are WAY over my head, at least for now.
Thanks in advance! ;-)
EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out.
