Hey,
I have just got an 8gb SDHC card for my Eee PC and I was wondering how to format it so that I can install software on it.
I'm sure this is on forum or wiki, sure I have seen it before. But can't seem to find it so early in the morning lol
Thanks in advance
Michael

Seaarch for Hitachi Micro filter drivers.
I'll try find the link.
EDIT: Here you go scroll down a little bit and you should see it. There are many other useful things there.

Thanks thats a great help.
Just one question, do I need to format my SDHC card first? At moment it says it is in RAW format.
Thanks again

I installed Office 2007 on my SDHC and didn't need any drivers for that - is there somethign different with Windows FLP than full XP?

I had big problems with the hitachi drivers. Make sure you follow all of the directions and modify the inf correctly before installing them. Mine were installed correctly, but I still had trouble with it corrupting files on a 16GB Transcend Class 6 card. Others, however seem to have no trouble whatsoever.
I finally found a post somewhere referencing a microsoft KB and hotfix that replaces four files including sdsub.sys. It was to resolve problems where XP wouldn't see a SDHC card larger than 4GB. While I didn't have that problem, I figured I would try it anyway since it couldn't get any worse than deleting my files.
I am now running the card with NTFS using regular drivers with the hot fix. I mounted the card as a directory under the C drive following the wiki. So far, it hasn't corrupted a single file and I am very happy with the performance. I am not moving any temp directories or profile items to it other than the My Documents folder.
I had bad luck with the hitachi drivers, but then again it might just be the hot fix that straightened me out. Who knows? Just a word to the wise.

I just formatted my 16GB SDHC card NTFS and it works fine, I have several programs installed on it. I'm running nLited XP SP2 and I did the card formatting on my desktop running Vista Home Premium. No extra drivers, no problems.

I looked on the wiki... But, didn't find the answer. Do you have to format the SDHC card as NTFS or can you leave it as formated out of the box?

I saw the directions posted somewhere, but I'll try to give you a step by step...
1. Format your card NTFS. This can be done with an HP tool. Info found here... http://www.eeelite.com/files/index.php? … mat%20Tool
2. Click start button. Right click "My Computer". Choose Manage from the context menu.
3. Click on Disk Management in the left pane.
4. Right click on the SDHC volume in the right pane. <Mine is Disk1 D:> and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths".
5. Click the Add button. Browse to an empty directory on your "C" drive and choose OK.
6. Close out the computer management console.
You can now browse your card by navigating to the folder you chose on the C drive. The folder's icon will look like a removable disk. Any software installed to c:\<whatever folder you chose>\ will actually be installed on the card. The software installer can't tell that the drive is removable.
Hope that helps.

Yup, when you use the hitachi microdriver to convert your sdhc into a resident drive....it is best that you reformat the sdhc into ntfs. Also, assign a permanent drive letter to the sdhc.
