Re: Softswitch 1.1 Release! With WebCam Support!

This should be released days later, but some one email me ask to add a webcam support.
Since I've already finished it, I'm willing to share it with you all here.
Ok, I'm going to finish my term papers...see you later!

This is awesome, thanks a bunch!

Do you think you could add support for the RJ45 network card?

Thanks !

Re: Softswitch 1.1 Release! With WebCam Support!

Any chance of making this open source or configurable (via plugins ?) so people can add their own devices (like GPS, modem etc) ?

Ok, the next version will bring you a config file to do this.

When I disable wireless the blue light stays on.

Is this normal?

I don't think you need the wireless.  Fn f2 using asus' acpi drivers disables wireless.

Re: Softswitch 1.1 Release! With WebCam Support!

BASSAM,

great app!  quick feedback: the "Webcam" menu option is disabled from the systemtray app but Win+4 still works.  Also, any way to add other FN + key functions (like volume on/off) so I have access to these using a USB keyboard?

thanks!

Re: Softswitch 1.1 Release! With WebCam Support!

BASSAM,  great stuff! Thanks for putting the effort into this. I read an earlier post about a config file, so when this comes, it may answer this question but...

I am considering doing the internal USB hack and putting (for example) my BT dongle inside on one of these USB ports.  Will this app in its current state detect a BT dongle regardless of which port it is on?  The reason I ask is that I am holding off on doing the mod as I dont want to have my BT always on. Currently, I simply unplug it. But I want it hidden away inside and to be able to turn it on/off via software (hopefully) using your tool.

Again thx!

Re: Softswitch 1.1 Release! With WebCam Support!

Re: Softswitch 1.1 Release! With WebCam Support!

Loved AsTray so much, thought I'd try softswitch.  Found 2 things and a suggestion:

1.) It found my bluetooth adatper and disabled it.  But when I click on 'Bluetooth" (to disabled), a box pops up that says "PowerBasic" and has "1" as it's text.  I hit the only option "Ok."  Then it repeats, but the text says "0."  Then it works.  The same thing happens when I re-enable.

2.) Webcam is grayed out on my 701.

*.) I second the suggestion, for disabling the ethernet adapter.

Thanks for the great work!

I'll make a new version of 1.2 to let you customize the functions, it means you can enable/disable any hardware as you like
Start to work on this just after astray+ 1.3 final released

No, it changes the device state by calling windows apis, so it's more safe and can be used on most computers

Re: Softswitch 1.1 Release! With WebCam Support!

Can Softswitch be used for this "Deep Sleep" Battery saving trick:

http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=6636

That trick also disables webcam, but by disabling the "USB Composite Device" in device manager.  If not, can SSwitch incorporate this style of turning off webcam?
